Anyone have a thread they can link me to about writing a LOCI?
Would it be a good time to ask for them to interview me? Or to drop that my baby sis goes to the undergrad and we would overlap for 3 years?
Columbia is my #1
I interviewed beginning of January, haven't heard anything since. I also did not receive the "Held" email. I'm a splitter though (LSAT>75, GPA<25) and felt like my interview was only so-so (purely because of my own performance; my interviewer was very kind) so I assume I'm either going straight to the waitlist or my ding's in the mail.Applesauce11 wrote:I'm in the same position. Maybe we're being held for being held?JusPassItToWill wrote:My condolences to everyone as well for the hold emails, but this is really throwing me off, though; I'm similar to you guys in stats and I haven't been held (at least not yet).
What does this mean for me now?
Do you have that much to say without becoming repetitive? If yes, I think 2 pages are fine. But I doubt you need more than 1 page.drblakedowns wrote:My post hold LOCI for Columbia is coming in at 2 pages. Would it be better to have a 1-page LOCI and include a separate 'why Columbia,' or leave it 2 pages?

+1. It just means you're still UR, but its taking longer than they anticipated and/or they want to gather perspectives from other AdComm members.strawberrieee wrote:Better.Loney M. Setnick wrote:So we've already established WL =/= Hold. Is being held better or worse than WL?
I'm so sorry DC.Dcc617 wrote:Held. I'm surprised and disappointed since I thought I was in prospective Butler/Hamilton territory. I guess I bombed the interview or something, since they apparently hate me.

I can't help but feel like we (and certainly some others) are in an implicit hold despite not being sent the official holdmeowmers wrote:i have entered into gobear's cartesian doubt and fear i will never emerge:theconsigliere wrote:I'm pretty sure you and I are never hearing from Columbiameowmers wrote:man this is weird as heck. still radio silence here.

I wrote a Why X essay as part of my original application, so if that's true I don't really know what i'm going to write in my LOCI.Budfox55 wrote:drblakedowns wrote:My post hold LOCI for Columbia is coming in at 2 pages. Excuse my ignorance, but I assumed that a LOCI would essentially be a "Why X" essay. Is that wrong? Unless you have major updates to your resume, what would you include in a LOCI that isn't why Columbia? Gracias amigos.

Ok, so does that mean if you're being held, your chances of admittance are higher than ever getting off the waitlist? Also, how many people's applications do you think are being held? In the e-mail I got, it said "your application is one of a select group of applicants placed on Hold." What does "select" mean? Does "select" mean 300 out of the 6,000 applicants or does "select" mean 60 out of the 6,000?Topszn wrote:+1. Who should we address it to? I hate starting with "To Whom It May Concern"strawberrieee wrote:Topszn wrote:I wrote a Why X essay as part of my original application, so if that's true I don't really know what i'm going to write in my LOCI.Budfox55 wrote:drblakedowns wrote:My post hold LOCI for Columbia is coming in at 2 pages. Definitely higher than getting off Reserve (aka waitlist). Hold apps get on-going review, while Reserve don't get re-review until there are slots after cycle ends (eg too many people withdraw).Loney M. Setnick wrote:

Questions that only adcoms know the answer...Loney M. Setnick wrote:Also, how many people's applications do you think are being held? Who signed the last communication you received from them? You could address it to them, or a more general "Dear Columbia Law Admissions".RedWhite&Blonde wrote:Who should we address it to?
