Pretty rude of Columbia to make decision on candidates who submitted so late when people who submitted in November (and earlier?) are still waiting.
I still go if they accept me, though.............

I submitted back in January but had my app held for my Feb LSAT score which came out 3/2.greenapples wrote:Congrats! How are you complete on 3/3? when did you submit your app?stephcurry wrote:In via email! Complete 3/3.

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I apologize for the late reply. I submitted my application on 1/17/15 and it became complete on 1/23/15. Got the interview request on 3/3 and it was held on 3/12. Decision came in on 3/16. So the whole process was around 2 months. I have filled in all this data on the spreadsheet.jimmyjustice wrote:NeptuneSpear wrote:Got in! Decision came in via email. Thank you to everyone on this forum for the help. And congratulations to everyone else who got in! Hope to see you on campus!
To those who got their decision via email, is there a separate letter for scholarship awards or is it mentioned in the offer of admission letter itself? There is no information regarding a scholarship in my letter. Would that mean that I haven't been considered for one? Not that it would reduce my ecstasy in any way
Congrats!
Out of curiosity, when did you submit your application/how long did it take for a response?
Thanks!

Just interviewed today (3/23); my interviewer was basically hilarious (in a good way). Very conversational -- if anyone has an interview scheduled and has questions that might not be covered in the rest of the thread, feel free to PM me!

Reserved a month ago! Don't think there's any chance for me though (based on previous years' threads)

Just got my admit email! I was a very late applicant and I felt like I bombed my interview so I'm pretty ecstatic. No Ham/Butler, so does anyone have an idea how long it takes for other scholarship info?
ETA: Complete 2/17, interview 3/20

How long after your complete date did they notify you for an interview?

Congrats!!! So, if I've been complete for 6 weeks now and haven't received an interview invite....I'm guessing it's not going to be good news?ptz wrote:Just got my admit email! Would like to know this too... Haven't heard a peep about an interview and been complete since 2/4, so is it safe to assume Columbia hates me?morningstar wrote:Congrats!!! You and I are Columbia twinsies. Complete same day, both with disturbing lack of interview invites. Let's hope that means they secretly love us both and are just waiting to tell us the good news to build suspense.Jessicakes90 wrote:Would like to know this too... Currently the highest LSAT scorer on LSN who wasn't accepted. My yellow dot is completely surrounded by green dots.

This has been a constant fear of mine, so I feel your pain and I'm really sorry to hear it. Everyone keeps (really unhelpfully) telling me that my scores are good enough that I *should* have no problem getting in, but there are always ALWAYS cases where fantastic candidates are YPed or lost in some bullshit black box purgatory. I'm afraid that I'm going to be in this situation in a week or two.radio1nowhere wrote:Currently the highest LSAT scorer on LSN who wasn't accepted. With scores like that, I'm guessing you've had some great acceptances, but I'm still sorry to hear about Columbia.

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Just a reminder to those waiting that interviews are NOT required for admission at Columbia. They've never made clear why they interview certain people, but the going theory is that it's for people who are borderline admits or borderline for named scholarships. You shouldn't worry about not getting one. Hang in there!

I'm the kid that would search the entire house for Christmas presents a month before Christmas... in other words, I don't do well with suspense lol. Columbia, please just tel me... please?morningstar wrote:Let's hope that means they secretly love us both and are just waiting to tell us the good news to build suspense.

Looks like those who have gotten in today have done an interview. Wonder if this is a wave of interviewed applicants or if we'll see some other movement too.zhenders wrote:In via email as of today -- hopefully this means a positive wave for many ITT!

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
The other day I heard someone mention how competitive Columbia students are with each other, as if it were a commonly known thing about Columbia. But it was the first time I'd heard it. Is anyone ITT able to comment on how much truth is there to that stereotype?
I mean, I get that biglaw farm = competitive, hard-working students. But is it actually a pronounced, toxic sort of thing at Columbia or just a facet of any top tier law school?

That's an old stereotype that seems to still be around in certain places. Everything I've heard from current students on TLS and at ASW says that it's just a myth and that it's a very supportive community. There's really very little reason to stress or compete too much, because pretty much everyone who puts in a decent effort is virtually guaranteed at least an offer or two at OCI, so there's very little feeling that it's a zero sum game and that if you don't end up in the top 30% you're screwed, as I get the impression is the case at some other schools.ub3r wrote:The other day I heard someone mention how competitive Columbia students are with each other, as if it were a commonly known thing about Columbia. 0L, so I can only provide hearsay. I spoke with (1) friends who went there, (2) friends who are recent alumni, (3) a random former classmate from my college whom I recognized at ASW, and (4) CLS students individually in class and on the ASW tours.ub3r wrote:The other day I heard someone mention how competitive Columbia students are with each other, as if it were a commonly known thing about Columbia. None of them said it was competitive. All of them said the opposite. Some of them even said that the people who are "competitive" in the sense we think of it (refusing to share notes, requiring applications to study groups, refusing to study with people) are ostracized by the rest of the student body.
Again, all hearsay though.

Basically what my contacts told me is what LetsGoMets just posted. Almost verbatim actually.LetsGoMets wrote:That's an old stereotype that seems to still be around in certain places.
