Just got reserved. Really upset because Median LSAT and GPA>75% 2 years WE and URM...
Cornell was a top choice for me. Does anyone know what the odds of getting off are? Or if this is more of a WL than a ding?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DECISION OF RESERVE AND THE SUMMER WAITLIST?
At Cornell Law, if we have given you a decision of reserve, it means that we have reviewed your application, but we have not reached a final decision of admit or deny on your application. We will review your application at least one more time before reaching a final decision.
You may submit additional information to support your application as you are waiting for the final decision. Typically, applicants submit additional grades, new honors or promotions or an additional letter of recommendation.
In early summer, we review all the applicants still on hold and create a summer waitlist.

Woah. I wouldn't give up. You sound very competitive on paper, unless you blew it on writing or something.MnM22 wrote:Just got reserved. Really upset because Median LSAT and GPA>75% 2 years WE and URM...

Was reserved today as well. Frankly only disappointed that I spent $25 on their application.
PM for exact stats, but I was well above both 75ths. Interviewed last week

Re: Cornell c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I think it would be pretty tough for them to argue against YP on this one, but hey, that's the name of the game. Ultimately, they made the right decision as I have very little interest in attending.
That said, I did prepare very well for the interview, and I generally interview pretty well. I think that the 2L who interviewed me probably picked up on the fact that I have other options and probably didn't give me her highest recommendation.
Oh well!

Yeah, or maybe she conveyed that it was a great interview, but the adcoms made that judgement by themselves.lastsamurai wrote:I think it would be pretty tough for them to argue against YP on this one, but hey, that's the name of the game. Anyway, doesn't look like there's any love lost on either side of this transaction.

Sorry to hear about the WL, but I'm glad you're not too broken up about it! Out of curiosity, did you mention being admitted to HLS during your interview? When I was asked what other schools I was considering, I talked about being admitted to some schools closer to Cornell in the rankings and said "and a few others" but didn't mention HLS specifically -- wondering if that had anything to do with it...lastsamurai wrote:I think it would be pretty tough for them to argue against YP on this one, but hey, that's the name of the game. I was reserved today, as well. This was a pretty big reach to me so I'm honestly thrilled. Going to ride it out and get some recs/LOCIs/visits in and see if I can squeeze out an acceptance. Good luck to everyone else!

Re: Cornell c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
How far above the 75ths is generally considered a prime position for YP? I'm one point above Cornell's median and yet that's also 1 point above the 75th since they're one and the same. I wouldn't think that's high enough for YP even with a GPA above the 75th. Looking at numbers like mine, your other t14 options are higher t14 on probably a lesser scholarship or non-t14 at a comparable to higher scholarship.

Oxie I'm pretty sure that I didn't mention any schools specifically, but oh well...plenty of decisions to stress about without reading too much into this one.oxie wrote:Sorry to hear about the WL, but I'm glad you're not too broken up about it!
