Once Stanford tells you you're on the waitlist. (LinkRemoved)jbagelboy wrote:so at what point can november and early december completes who haven't gone DLS assume we are waitlist destined? :O
Of course, not getting word within the next week is probably a good (meaning, ding less-likely) sign.

Thanks for this link! So its perfectly possible we could wait until April and still get dinged; I see 3/3/1 for WL/ding/acceptance in my complete frame, nevermind that this is a questionably small sample sizeLSATSCORES2012 wrote:Once Stanford tells you you're on the waitlist. One year earlier is a bunch of WLs, but two years earlier is a bloodbath of dings. Seem like last year was a good middle ground between the two

My intuition on this is that once you get above the 75 marker or close to it, it stops mattering fast. Because schools use the median method rather than the averaging method, your individual score has much less power.jbagelboy wrote:Retaking would be a large expense of time and money for very little chance of gain; if you took in October with me you probably missed only a handful of questions already. I think it would make almost 0 effect on stanford. The only quantifiable impact of a higher score than 174 might be a baller scholarship like butler/hamilton ect. since those *seem* to only go to 175+. I thought you were happy with Cal tho!twinkletoes16 wrote:ManOfTheMinute wrote:Hmm... with that GPA I'd be thinking that it is a question of softs once you have hit the 174 mark. I doubt more LSAT points are going to make your app that much more appealing to them. To be honest, a 178 doesn't say THAT much more than a 174 IMOtwinkletoes16 wrote:am i insane for thinking about sitting out this cycle and trying to retake a 174? i think i am. is the shot at HS worth it by sitting out (yet another) year? just toying around with ideas in general but i'm debt averse and S pretty much guarantees a jerb. they're such a black box though...
There seems to be two camps, one of which is "retake til you hit 180" and the other is that after you pass a school's medians it doesn't matter that much. My GPA will limit me regardless I think, and another year off wouldn't get me anywhere exciting WE-wise.

Every day I look at my GPA and thank my lucky stars they use the median . . . .

So I couldn't tell you exactly when, but recently my address was modified to take away the abbreviations.
N. was changed to North and Ave. was changed to Avenue.

I noticed that my address has changed too. Not to be a downer, but I wouldn't read too much into it unless we had a reason to. I went complete in mid-December.
