Is anyone going to the "Annual Alumni Luncheon held in NYC on January 25, 2013?" What would be considered appropriate attire? I RSVP'd and now I'd feel like a douche if I don't show up.

This basically means Cornell isn't planning to offer me very much money, right? Theirs is among the least transparent of the scholarship programs at the top schools, so I honestly don't know whether my lack of DS invitation means I should give up hope or not.
You asked this before, did anyone respond? I'm guessing most of us have no idea. The only thing I can think of is maybe read through last year's thread around this time of year to see if anyone has the same problem as you and if there was any resolution?

I kind of get the sense that they are only offering Dean's Scholarships applications to people above both medians and not splitters. Cornell isn't known to be particularly splitter friendly in general, am I right? I'm sure they will offer you something decent. But to be honest your numbers kind of scream NYU so maybe they won't make much of an initial effort and you'll have to negotiate up and convince them you really want to attend? My gut tells me you could get that 120K scholarship but they might need some convincing.
Yeah, I can't find anything much on TLS, so I just keep asking in the hopes that someone else has some ideas. And that makes sense that they'd only offer the invitations to folks above both medians. I guess I was just hoping this cycle would be a little more forgiving of splitters than in years past, in terms of both admissions and scholarships. If it does come down to convincing them I'd take them over NYU, I'll just talk about how little I like NYC and how little interest I have in living there as a poor law student.
I got the invite and I'm only above GPA median, albeit URM.

At least a suit and tie. If you get there and feel overdressed (which I don't think will happen) you can always remove the tie and undo a button or two.

Yessir, I got mine back fairly quickly.

Fee waiver was granted on 11/5, I think I got the refund (Which was for me a prepaid VISA card) by the end of the 1st week of December.

Has anyone heard back about travel stipends for ASW yet? I'm trying to plan these things without going too far in the red before seat deposit time.

Different timelines for different people, but it often take a while (several weeks).

Updated to 1/23 and they took all the info about being deferred off the header... Anyone else?

No, but my status date went from 12/19 to 12/12. I'm actually moving backward in this process.

Still just sitting on that 1/16 status update - with the deferred header and status as "deferred to regular applicant pool." Did your status change or just the dates/header?

Status says complete now AND header changed... I assume if they haven't made a decision they're close to one lol

Just my date, the header and deferred status are the same.

First status checker update since complete late November. Have decisions usually followed soon after status checker updates? Above both medians, but not YP level.

I don't think that the deferred people have the same updates as we did before we were deferred. The people who were accepted last week all had 1 december update and 1 january update before being accepted, but did not mention that the deferral header ever disappeared...

1st Complete: 12/04/12
2nd Complete: 12/19/12
3rd Complete: 1/23/13

Has anyone had 3 complete dates and gotten a rejection?

Complete dates: 1/8, 1/16, 1/23. I have not been following this thread at all because of a late submission, but from what I can tell, I guess a decision is coming soon...

Who else got the "Completed Files Update Email"? I only have one December update since applying in November. Got the email in January.

eta: not really an "update", I went complete in December and haven't had an update since except for the email.

Is it too late now to apply to Cornell? Technically its Feb 1, but do you think chances would be severely limited at this point even for someone above both medians? I'm afraid all the seats are taken

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
