Hey y'all, just curious, are there any NYU ED applicants still waiting on a decision?

I am ED at Columbia, and there seem to be plenty of people still waiting (even though in the past they've never failed to finish by the end of December AFAIK).

NYU has a hard deadline for Dec 31. CLS has a soft deadline.

How do you mean a soft deadline?

Hard deadline: "You will have an answer by the end of December."
Soft deadline: "Applicants will generally receive an answer by the end of December"

They give themselves extra leeway by being vague

My Columbia ED contract seems pretty hard, then: "You will be notified of Columbia's decision in December."

While I'm pretty sure that if you haven't received a decision by now as an ED applicant you won't be admitted, it really is rather rude of Columbia not to honor that.

I think the ED contract is null and void as of Jan 1st. It is strange that Columbia is not letting folks know.

Thanks for this. Bottom line is it looks like CLS initially had a hard deadline and changed to a soft because the language on their initial ED contract early in the cylce and the current ED section of their website apparently conflict, and NYU seems to stick with/honor their hard deadline. Sorry if we've hijacked the NYU thread with all the Columbia talk (although I'm sure most of us have applied to both - I know I have).

This early notification assures applicants of having successfully completed the law school application process, allowing them to resume professional, family, and educational responsibilities without any uncertainty.

Hey, longtime board lurker jumping in to ask: does anyone know if you can submit your personal statement as your scholarship essay for the AnBryce if the topics are the same? One of the other scholarships encourages applicants to do so, but the AnBryce doesn't say. Was planning on calling NYU's office when they opened to see if they would, but if the deadline is before the 2nd...

I also wanted to know this. Ended up writing another essay that i think know isn't as solid and sent it to them via email today. Too late now, i guess.

You guys did the right thing by submitting a separate PS and AB essay. That's what I did when I was applying, and the AB essay is supposed to be very targeted toward your socioeconomic obstacles and telling your story.

Also re: AnBryce, don't freak out if you didn't add a separate AB essay (though it's definitely credited). They apparently also pluck out AnBryce-type personal statements for consideration. Definitely ignore this Forza guy, though.

And that about sums up all I could contribute that you didn't already know haha.

We're still a ways away from the finalists announcement, but definitely hit forza up about whatever questions you got. He's basically the program poster boy, so take his word as gospel.

If that's the case, i hope they'll consider my PS because it gives more of a complete picture and it definitely fits the prompt. When i wrote the AnBryce essay i was trying to be careful about not having too much overlap with my PS and i think it suffered because of that.

i'm sorry if this has been covered before, but those of you who have been accepted: did you receive your acceptance package yet? all i got was this very short email congratulating me on the acceptance a few weeks ago, and i haven't heard anything from them since

I'm in the same boat. Got accepted ED in early December with an email/phone call, but haven't received any kind of package or any information on financial aid.

Anybody know when we should be getting those?
