What is the consensus ITT re: the UR email last Friday? Any greater significance to it? I went UR 1/15.

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
The twitter post this weekend about emailing admits suggested that the people who had heard nothing about going into FR could still be getting a straight admit, and I guess the email admit today confirms that. Hoping those are rolling out slowly and not all at once, though, because I have nothing yet.
Probably a deny for me, but I'm still holding out some hope.

UR since 11/21 and was not sent to FR. Feeling an imminent ding. Berkeley, if you are not going to accept me, please don't drag this out. I've been suspended in hopeless hopefulness.dan k wrote:anyone UR since 12/18 or prior? not trying to be whiny or anything i'm just wondering where those who are around/before that time are with acceptances/WL/FR

UR since 10/26 and have heard nothing since (aside from the generic request by email a week or so ago to submit fafsa).CatFacts wrote:UR since 11/21 and was not sent to FR. Feeling an imminent ding. Such an email has never gone out before, right?mrizza wrote:seemed to be all of us that went UR on the 15th. Other than that we can't figure anything out.fallingup wrote:What is the consensus ITT re: the UR email last Friday? Any greater significance to it?
I remember reading that a random 1/3 of applicants get looked at by assistant admissions officers, and if they feel that they want to admit the applicant they send the file to Dean Tom. In a bout of wishful thinking, maybe the people who got that email are the lucky ones whom were sent for Dean Tom's seal of approval... who's onboard with my excessive optimism?
I almost want to start a group for people who got that email to get their stats and stuff in hopes of shedding some light. I just find it super strange.

I got that email on 1/4 when I went UR...Unless your email is different. Mine read like this:
Dear HawkeyeGirl,
Thank you for submitting an application to the U.C. Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). We write to inform you that it was processed successfully and is now under review.
Our review process is thorough and holistic. Each application is reviewed individually and several factors are taken into account. Given the large number of applications we receive, we request that you refrain from contacting us unless the matter is urgent. You may check your status at http://www.law.berkeley.edu/2987.htm.
Thank you for entrusting us with your application. We will notify you of the decision on your application as soon as it becomes available.

^Yup that was it. Standard stuff. When I asked about its significance, I wasn't implying that the email might indicate something about our chances. I'm mostly curious as to whether it means a decision is coming soon.

Just thought I'd chime in to say I was part of this group as well. Went UR on 1/15, then got the UR email on 1/25. Not likely to be admitted based on my stats, though.ManOfTheMinute wrote:Such an email has never gone out before, right?mrizza wrote:seemed to be all of us that went UR on the 15th. Really? Reading the stats on your profile, you're right at both their medians. Great shot.ALgooner wrote:

hey dudes, if you may want something to do with your time, while you're waiting to be admitted to law school (as I am), I highly recommend michel thomas's language learning cds. Seriously, choose a language, and you will learn it. I don't even work for his company. I'm just that excited about it. It really beats waiting to hear back from law schools.
