Dear uva...
Please call and wish me happy birthday today. It's been "6-8 weeks" since I last heard from you and I miss you.
Thanks

Oh my goodness, I just got the call me because I want to "visit with you for a few minutes about your application if you’re free" from Jason Dugas. Email timestamp is 11:11 AM eastern.
Edit: Submitted 10/25.

Status checker received 10/27, with no word. I'm assuming this is because they haven't started sending rejections? Seems like too long of a wait for good news.

Just talked to Mr. Dugas--a VERY nice guy--and I'm IN! So thrilled right now. He talked to me about some professors and clinics he thinks I'd be interested in based on my personal statement. No mention of money, but that's not unexpected with my super-splitterness.
Submitted 10/25, complete 10/28. LSAT > 178, GPA < 3.1, strong WE and other softs. OOS.

In as well! Still in shock, given my OOS status and my low LSAT. I guess my GPA paid off in the end. First T-14 acceptance! Stats are in profile.

YAYAYAYAY CRUMPLEDQ AND AUBURNBELLE! Crumpled, I'm guessing NYU is still #1 for you though?
Also, when did you both send in your app?

I sent my app in in late October. I seriously thought I was headed to the WL at best.crumpetsandtea wrote:YAYAYAYAY CRUMPLEDQ AND AUBURNBELLE! Crumpled, I'm guessing NYU is still #1 for you though? Also, when did you both send in your app?

Thanks so much! I'm still leaning NYU, but I'm not ready to commit. I'll definitely be attending ASWs to fully explore every option, and I'll try to leverage some money out of everyone firstcrumpetsandtea wrote:YAYAYAYAY CRUMPLEDQ AND AUBURNBELLE! I submitted 10/25 and was complete 10/28. I'm very surprised by the acceptance not just because of my GPA, but especially because I'm OOS. At this point I thought a non-ED OOS super-splitter would have the same chance of getting into UVA as getting into Yale.

Im starting the conversation for some scholarship. Im a splitter so it was a reach anyway. Will this reflect poorly on me?crumpledq wrote:Thanks so much! Might as well initiate the conversation now before all the money goes out. As long as you are tactful and keeps things in the context of financial need, I think it is a conversation worth having. If you have other offers, mentioning those in the context of a financial decision is a pretty understandable position. Just asking for money will probably rub them wrong, but there is always a tactful way to explain your situation.chem wrote:Im starting the conversation for some scholarship. Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
totally agree. nothing to be worried about; just be tactful and polite... and don't feel awkward, it is natural you want to have more information on the financial side of things before you are making these important decisions. worst case scenario they say "sorry right now we're not able to offer more$, we will let you know if the situation changes" kind of thing. They can't un-admit you and it may up your chances if $ comes available later, as they will realize that you are serious about the school and are definitely considering the financial implications very heavily (as opposed to maybe some people who never bring it up and then it seems like they don't care about paying sticker). Like maybe you will be put on some kind of mental, if not physical, scholarship $ waitlist so to speakEMZE wrote:Might as well initiate the conversation now before all the money goes out. edit: also would be nice if you had some questions about the school / programs / etc. to show how excited you are about it. Also the staff there really enjoys chatting about the school

If any WLs are still keeping up with this thread, did you have a call Jason email before being WLed? Or does anyone remember that happening as of yet? Searching through the old posts doesn't seem like it... Today has just been a roller coaster from getting that email and thinking YES I'M IN to calling and getting nothing either way. Freaking out man.

A couple pages back a poster indicated getting this email and there being an actual question about their application.soj wrote:For the hundredth time, at UVA, this means you're in.barneytrouble wrote:If any WLs are still keeping up with this thread, did you have a call Jason email before being WLed? Oh oops, I didn't realize that. That's certainly possible. Either way, there's no way UVA will ask applicants to call Jason just to let them know they've been waitlisted. This is UVA we're talking about. Practically everyone gets waitlisted.cch24 wrote:A couple pages back a poster indicated getting this email and there being an actual question about their application.soj wrote:For the hundredth time, at UVA, this means you're in.barneytrouble wrote:If any WLs are still keeping up with this thread, did you have a call Jason email before being WLed? Not at all. I called Anne Richards line after upping my LSAT score and she informed me that their merit scholly committee will re-review my app and render a decision in less than 5 business days. Pretty awesome, painless, and easy.chem wrote:Im starting the conversation for some scholarship. Im a splitter so it was a reach anyway. Will this reflect poorly on me?crumpledq wrote:Thanks so much! Thanks everyone! I'don't have anything to negotiate with yet, after a WL from Penn, but maybe they will give just a few thousand for asking? Anyway, I'm just so thankful to be accepted!FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:Not at all.
