Yeah, I'm pretty excited. I'll definitely be attending in the fall unless someone gives me an unacceptable response to my career services question...FGCUguy123 wrote:Lol yup. Can't wait.gotcha wrote:Phew, haha. You going to ASW?FGCUguy123 wrote:

How long did it take any of you to get a reply email to your first tuition deposit?

I did respond that if I gained acceptance to another school with pending decision that I would probably attend there instead. (University of Michigan but let's be serious, that's not happening.)law4vus wrote:Anyone? I was wondering this, too. I doubt they would hold it against you, they just want info on who they can expect this fall. Though waitlists are so unpredictable, that I don't see what kind of foresight a positive response to that question would give them.law4vus wrote:Anyone? I simply want them to guarantee me a job upon graduation. nbd imoFGCUguy123 wrote:What was your question again?gotcha wrote:

But really, I want to know that they are making an effort to improve and expand relationships with small and midsize firms in the area, to improve employment numbers, in case biglaw hiring remains so dismal.

Re: Emory 2011
Excellent. I couldn't agree more. As previously mentioned, that question will definitely be on the tip of everyone's tongue at the ASW. This might sound weird but, what is everyone wearing Friday night? Dean Rosenzweig sent an email saying "Smart Casual," I'm slightly confused by that.gotcha wrote:I simply want them to guarantee me a job upon graduation. nbd imoFGCUguy123 wrote:What was your question again?gotcha wrote:

I think smart casual is business casual... so, polo and slacks? If it's going to be 80+ I am going to hate not being able to wear shorts but I think I would rather not look like a beach-bum. I will probably end up wearing khakis and a polo.

Yeah. I'm thinking something similar. I'm in South Florida now it was about 88 today. I'm used to this weather so 80+ is simple. I think the event on Friday requires a bit more conservation, however. I was thinking like a button-up shirt and a sports coat with khakis.gotcha wrote:I think smart casual is business casual... so, polo and slacks? Maybe a tie. Nothing too over-the-top (i.e., looney toons etc lol).

Re: Emory 2011
Smart casual =/= business casual in my opinion based on Dean Rosenzweig's e-mail. It seems to be more, "Don't look like you came in off the streets or just got out of the gym, but otherwise dress casually."Dean Rosenzweig wrote:Attire: We encourage comfortable/”smart casual” clothing the entire weekend. (Don’t ask me what “smart casual” means. It sounded good, however.) In all seriousness, there is no need to dress-up. Enjoy the Atlanta weather.
Seems a bit overkill for a cookout, but hey, at least I'll know who are, haha.FGCUguy123 wrote:Yeah. I'm thinking something similar. I'm in South Florida now it was about 88 today. Re: Emory 2011
good call spets. i think I'll drop the tie... FYI....before you all decide to wear short sleeves: while indeed, the whether during the day in ATL is forecasted to be in the 80's the nighttime forecast (granted the event starts in the evening) is 60 degrees for Friday. Maybe it's my SFL blood, but that's cold for me haha.spets wrote:Smart casual =/= business casual in my opinion based on Dean Rosenzweig's e-mail. Re: Emory 2011
Has anyone who sent in a LOCI by email gotten a confirmation of receipt from admissions?
The other schools that I've sent LOCIs to have responded by saying that they would add it to my file.

Clairmont Reserve looks pretty nice... I looked around the off-campus housing finder but nothing too serious yet.FGCUguy123 wrote:Do you know where you want to live??gotcha wrote:

Re: Emory 2011
If any of you carless out-of-towners are interested, I'm willing to pick up a small group at the Emory Inn or Conference Center on Friday and give a little driving tour on the way to the cook out. Just don't make fun of my POS-sold-the-jag-to-have-petty-cash-to-continue-paying-the-mortgage-during-school-and-this-vehicle-gets-35-mpg-so-eff-off car! Figure a 5:00 pickup for 3-4 people should be sufficient to see the neighborhood.
Send me a PM if you're interested and we can pow wow.

If we are staying at the conference center or Emory Inn, are they going to have a shuttle running for us?

Re: Emory 2011
Just got back from the DC Admitted Students Reception and everything was great! I met some really great alumni who exchanged contact information with me and they all seemed really enthusiastic about Emory (even the Class of '09ers that were there!)
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
