I think last year I just sent the thank you to admissions. Don't worry too much about it; sit back and relax and best of luck to you!

Just got my scholarship letter from Chicago. Not bad, but also definitely not enough to sway me from my other offers. Could probably try to negotiate for more, but not sold on the school enough to bother with the extra effort. Ah well, one less to choose from.

With your numbers I'm surprised you didn't get a Ruby offer.Bearlyalive wrote:Just got my scholarship letter from Chicago. Not bad, but also definitely not enough to sway me from my other offers. Was it 90k? If so I got the same thing. Just wondering if it's either the Ruby or half off tuition (90k), or if the scholarship amount can vary.Bearlyalive wrote:Just got my scholarship letter from Chicago. /shrug, it is what it is. Maybe my being from California made them think I was less likely to come to the windy city if staying warm at SLS was an option (which it currently isn't yet, but that asidedogday793 wrote:With your numbers I'm surprised you didn't get a Ruby offer.Bearlyalive wrote:Just got my scholarship letter from Chicago. 120k. If you'd be more tempted by that offer, negotiate away! We're rooting for youcranburial wrote:Was it 90k? If so I got the same thing. I also got the 90K offer. Is this just merit or also need-based?cranburial wrote:Was it 90k? If so I got the same thing. Re: Chicago C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I believe that Chicago does them as a combined offer, so both. I think that the consensus is that Chicago does very little actual need-based aid, and that you can fairly accurately predict someone's total scholarship based on merit factors.Paulaaxox wrote:I also got the 90K offer. Mine was definitely entirely merit based; parents make too much.

I'm sorry if this has been covered earlier in the thread, but can someone tell me when the first seat deposit deadline is?
I'm waitlisted and just curious. Thanks.

Not to get your hopes up, but I thought UChicago was a reach for me too and was accepted with a small scholly offer (probably need-based but who knows). I honestly would not have even applied to UChicago had they not sent a waiver because I assumed I had no chance. When they sent the interview invite I had no idea what to do because I hadn't actually considered an invite to be a possibility lol My point is, don't sell yourself short, they wouldn't have interviewed you if they were not interested in possibly accepting you! (Also not a URM, by the way)Topszn wrote:right there with you. reach for me to even get interviewed, I know the WL is coming, but its hard not to be blindly optimistic.genericwit wrote:My interview went fairly well, I thought. All the questions were ones I found in here, except for the ones specific to my resume. But who knows? No idea how I even got the interview. My scores are not really up to par, and I'm not URM. But now that I interviewed well, I'll be totally heartbroken to get the rejection/waitlist that I know is inevitable.
I guess I'll find out in 2-3 weeks, judging by notification trends.
Edit: Also, I went UR2 immediately after my interview.

Thanks for that! Hopefully i'll end up a similar boat to yourself, a little scholly money wouldn't hurt either but I'm not going to get greedy... such a fantastic option to have under anyone's belt, it'll certainly make my Fall plans a lot harder to decide on...skimmilk wrote:Not to get your hopes up, but I thought UChicago was a reach for me too and was accepted with a small scholly offer (probably need-based but who knows). That's so fantastic to hear. I'm worried because I didn't apply until January, but that's when I got my email invitation to apply. I'm so worried, but as I was applying, I kind of fell in love with the school and would love to go there, even if in a whole bunch of debt.Topszn wrote:Thanks for that! I'm doing my other scholarship negotiations so half-heartedly, because I'm holding out hope that Chicago might take me.

I hope they get back to us next week rather than April.

Edit: I also resent my thank you note specifically to my interviewer. I got back a generic reply from the admissions office, and I'm not sure if it was forwarded. I hope that wasn't a stupid thing to do.

I went UR 2 on 3/15 but haven't heard anything, i.e. no interview request. Is it safe to assume rejection?

Could also be WL. Or maybe you're still in the running, it's getting to the point in the cycle where they may no longer be able to accommodate all of the remaining interviews they'd like to conduct. It ain't over til it's over. I'm at UR2 3/15 after an interview 3/11. Let's wait it out together.plzacceptmethx wrote:I went UR 2 on 3/15 but haven't heard anything, i.e. no interview request. Apologies if this has already been addressed. I was UR1 1/22, UR2 3/15, and UR3 3/24. I did not receive an interview request. What is going on? (On the way to be dinged?)
