Probably just speculation (it was somewhere in this thread), but it makes sense to me.theconsigliere wrote:I'm interested in hearing from the people who "suggested that isn't strictly true." i.e. are these people who successfully negotiated w/ Michigan? i.e. are these people speculating or do they have first hand info on the topic?RZ5646 wrote:Others have suggested that isn't strictly true. Guessing you would likely need a full ride or close to it from a higher ranked or peer school for them to consider it. If you were to get the Darrow would you attend for sure? If so, I think being open with them about this couldn't hurt. edit: Also, technically dean's --> darrow wouldn't be increasing an existing award, but changing the existing award for a new one.

In interviews Dean Z has said that there are times when they consider what other schools have offered and amend their offer. Everyone at Michigan has been wonderful, I'd say ask. It can't hurt.RZ5646 wrote:Probably just speculation (it was somewhere in this thread), but it makes sense to me.theconsigliere wrote:I'm interested in hearing from the people who "suggested that isn't strictly true." i.e. are these people who successfully negotiated w/ Michigan? i.e. are these people speculating or do they have first hand info on the topic?RZ5646 wrote:Others have suggested that isn't strictly true. I checked the C/O 2017 thread and folks started reporting being WL'ed at around 4pm, so maybe not out of the woods yet.EastCoastICU wrote:+1squirtlesquad14 wrote:10:35am and radio silence...I guess this means we live to see another day.The Abyss wrote:WL emails went out around 10 am last year, so we'll know soon enough.

I've never heard of this happening. Which isn't to say that it's absolutely impossible, but I'd venture that it's extremely unlikely.slizerd wrote:Has there ever been a scenario where someone was offered a Deans Scholarship but was then later offered a Darrow or full tuition?

I would guess it could happen if a number of people who get offered the Darrow turn it downAeon wrote:I've never heard of this happening. Yes. I think their server refreshes with people that added as "admits" sometime during the day before, and it automatically sends the 6:00am emailsEastCoastICU wrote:Have acceptances only gone out in the morning?

Yes, with a Darrow/full tuition I would DEFINITELY go. I have the highest Deans Scholarship now, but like RZ said even though it doesn't look like the leftover tuition is thaaatt expensive, the CoA is still kind of grimace-worthyRZ5646 wrote:Also interested. Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
My dean's scholarship leaves a substantial amount of tuition debt--just under under half. I really, really love Michigan so I'm hoping they may be able to take notice of other offers.slizerd wrote:Yes, with a Darrow/full tuition I would DEFINITELY go. Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
Yep, ~18k for a Michigan JD sounds great until you realize that CoL adds another ~30k on top of that. I have significant debt already from undergrad and I'm trying to keep my student loans in the five-figure range, so I don't think I can commit with that sort of offer. But if they offer me a Darrow, I'll mail in my deposit the next day.slizerd wrote:Yes, with a Darrow/full tuition I would DEFINITELY go. Just got hit with the WL email. Excited that I'm on the fence, but still sad it's not an acceptance. I'll definitely accept a spot, best of luck to everyone else!
