I was admitted off the waitlist last June so for all of you who are waiting to hear, perhaps I can be of some assistance to you as well!
Did you get any $$ off the WL?

How often do you recommend writing LOCIs?

Yes-I submitted the scholarship offers I had from other schools and Michigan sent me an offer (comparable to offers I received from similarly ranked schools) later that same day.
The one recommendation I have is to make sure you submit all your offers from other schools at one time because I am fairly certain Michigan will only make you an offer once.

Tricky question- I wrote a ton of LOCIs and sent in additional LORs but Im pretty sure I was the exception (I tried to submit something once every two weeks or so).
My friend who was accepted off the waitlist didn't send anything in past his application but in May received the mass email asking people to respond with their interest level and instead of responding, drove from Florida to MI to tell the admissions office he really wanted to come here, went on a tour, and got a phone call an hour later.

While I dont know if either of these exact plans would work for another waitlister I just recommend finding a way to show your interest and commitment to coming here. If you're on the waitlist it means you've got a shot so if you really want to come here I would just do everything in your power to show that. Michigan really cares about the quality of people they accept so admits off the waitlist aren't really based off a specific need for GPA or LSAT score but are based off what the person can bring to the community. If you're waitlisted just try to find a way to show the admissions office why you are unique and why you are committed to coming here.

You have one evening in Ann Arbor to grab dinner and then go out to bars/whatever after. Where do you go?
Loaded question.
Depends how much you want to pay and the type of food you want.

If you're down for the more expensive fare I'd go to mani for italian, isalita for mexican, tomukun for korean bbq or pacific rim for japanese.
If you're going for cheaper food, there are a ton of happy hour specials around. For a beer and burger go to Ashley's, Tomcat, or Ann Arbor Brewing Company.

If you're just looking to get a drink I recommend World of Beer or Black Pearl. Mash has live music during the weekend and is a popular place. For going out the frattiest bars are Ricks and Rush.

When you wake up the next morning, hungover and questioning every life decision you've ever made, I highly recommend no thai or a chipati from Pizza bobs
This is great - thanks!

Hello best of luck,

You are saying you presented all your offers and Michigan made a fair offer. How many offers did you present? In June you already lost all your offers, even double deposit offers, by June you can only have one offer left on the table. Are you saying that you presented all offers you had in your cycle though they are no longer actual offers to attend those schools.

Thank you for clarification.

Hello,
You are correct, by June I had made a deposit to only one school so technically I had lost the scholarship offers to other schools. However, some of the schools that I did not deposit at had made me better offers so I just submitted all the offers I had received throughout my cycle. I dont know how much of a difference those made in terms of the aid I ended up receiving but I decided it couldn't hurt to submit them.

That's how I'm at with Vandy. Scholarships are starting to flood out and I haven't even had a single date change yet.

Just got in off of the waitlist (yes, really). PM for details.

ETA: Don't take this as a sign of waitlist movement. Dean Z said that this was in advance of review of the rest of the waitlist files. I was a unique case.

I was accepted (summer start) and am extremely excited! But I would like to switch to the fall start for a couples of reasons. (1) I feel rushed (2) Waitlisted at Penn and Chicago and would like the opportunity to hear from them (3) My employer would like me to finish off the year in June. My question is for those of you have switched from summer or fall or the other way around, who did you email and were you able to switch? Thanks

Does anyone know if the status checker only updates overnight or if it can change throughout the day? I check it like crazy everyday when it might be totally unnecessary to do so... Thanks!

It updates daily, but it can update throughout the day I thought. There will always be a date change, but the actual status might update within the same day - if this makes sense.

Submitted February 5, in yesterday. I think I was admitted on the 5th but didn't see the status checker and found out in the mail.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
