Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
I don't know about alumni interviews, but I did a group interview with Dean Cornblatt and he straight up told everyone are decisions are ready to be made, the interview was the last piece of the puzzle. He said we'd have our answer within 2 weeks. I was able to get my ASW username 8 days letter (still can't sign in). The situation may be different, but I feel like the timeframe/circumstance would be the same.

Thanks for this. It seems like people who have been requested for alum/group interviews are doing pretty well, has anyone been WL/dinged after doing the interview? I'm trying to temper my expectations a bit since even though my interview went well I have borderline/splitter numbers.
I just got priority waitlisted. My alumni interview was not great, but I thought it went reasonably well. A little surprised as I am already in at Columbia, NYU, Duke, and Cornell, and I did not think Georgetown YP'd. Must have been something about my application they did not like...

Hey at least you got an email...I'm freaking out because no email came my way!rudeawakening wrote:Anyone know anything more about the scholarship emails? I'm voting YP. Don't mean to sound insensitive, but with those kick-ass options, I think you can afford a priority waitlist from GULC. Anyways, LOCI spells an acceptance, if I had to guess. Good luck with everything!

Damn, that's a bummer! Sorry to hear that.rkspurs21 wrote:Priority waitlist. Anybody have a feel for the chances to get off this? After that disastrous interview, I'm not exactly high on Georgetown. It's not really fair to them, since I'm sure they don't know with each interviewer is saying. But, weighing a withdrawal.
No idea re priority waitlist (my first thought is that you probably have a good shot - Georgetown has a huge class and will likely end up pulling from the WL quite a bit), but if I were in your shoes I'd likely make them aware of what happened in the interview regardless of whether or not you withdraw -- just a brief email stating something along the lines of, "I understand that the interview is only one part of the application process, but I wanted to bring your attention to irregular questions my interviewer posed during our conversation, including asking what religion I practice, what church I attend, etc..." And if you want to stay on the WL, ending with a sentence saying you remain very interested in attending G, and will likely submit a LOCI in the near future, or something like that.

Preferred wait list by email. Did alumni interview 12/29 so I was kind of annoyed they took so long. This would have been very disappointing but I got into Boalt last week. I want to work in Cali so it's sort of a no brainer. Gulc isn't even eligible for scholarship matching either so I'm gonna withdraw.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Same thing just happened to me. Waitlisted at GULC despite higher T14 acceptances. Only stings because it was the first down-check I received, but hey, I wasn't naive enough to think I'd get in everywhere I applied.I'm voting YP. I have nothing to base this on and did 0 looking into it but I think the regular wait list is essentially the "thanks, but, not thanks" list.

I think this is the closest thing we have. It's been a week and a day for me, and nothing. I think ~2 weeks might be a good sketch, but I think others waited longer earlier in this thread.NoBladesNoBows wrote:Was there ever a consensus on approximate wait time after alumni interview?

I waited about three weeks, which I think had less to do w/ the strength of my app and more to do with the admissions process -- they have a lot of apps. Also the interviewers have to be in touch with admissions with a report on the interview and whether or not they like you. My interview sent in mine right away and it was still three weeks.NoBladesNoBows wrote:Was there ever a consensus on approximate wait time after alumni interview?

This makes the most sense to me. Maybe the faster turnaround from earlier in the cycle was mostly from group interviews where the school already has the evaluation/s in hand?havemercylorde wrote:I waited about three weeks, which I think had less to do w/ the strength of my app and more to do with the admissions process -- they have a lot of apps. I took a tour of Gtown a few weeks ago, and they said group interviews usually hear back first because the Dean ultimately knows his decision when its over and students can feel it out whether it helped or not. For interviews with alumni they say it takes longer and the 3 week imposed deadline usually starts after the interview is over. Hope this helps!

Group interview invitation today. Does anyone know if there's a way to request an alumni interview instead? A family member is having a medical thing the morning of the interview, and while I could probably make it to the afternoon slot, it'd be much easier for me if I could interview another day.

They had originally wanted me to do a group interview, but there were some scheduling conflicts so they then extended me an alumni interview. I'm sure if you let them know that you won't be able to make it that day, they'll extend you the same offer.leslieknope wrote:Group interview invitation today. Anyone in this forum do the interview in NYC the first week of February? If so, any results? I am starting to worry, as I have not heard anything and I can not log into ASW. Anyone in a similar position? Anyone here back?
