Applied late January, and I've been at "complete" since 2/2 with no movement since. I've heard back from every single one of my other schools. Is this the end, or is there still hope? Numbers slightly lower than their 25th percentile, but very strong softs. Anyone else not even in 1st review yet?

exact same situation since 1/30, and I'm a current USC student. I called today and they said "decisions will continue to be sent out until mid-May"CheckMyFrench wrote:Applied late January, and I've been at "complete" since 2/2 with no movement since. I submitted in mid january, my application was in first committee review from March 30th until April 30th. I went into final committee review on May 1st, completely skipped 2nd review. Pretty sure I'm a reject considering how long it took for my application to move. Heavy splitter LSAT 169 GPA 3.0radar714 wrote:exact same situation since 1/30, and I'm a current USC student. So do we think that they are finished with waitlisting applicants at this point?

Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Well I just got admitted to USC. Was on the waitlist for all of...six days or so? Sent in a LOCI almost immediately after being waitlisted (few hours after) and never even got around to doing the weird video interview.
On the downside, they're offering very little in scholarship - $20,000/year. For reference, their tuition is roughly $50,000/year (in- and out-of-state, since they're a private school). U.C. Irvine is offering $40,000/year, and their out-of-state tuition is $54,000/year (but $44,000 in-state - and you can gain residency in one year there).
So I'll be sending them a scholarship negotiation letter like I recently did with U.C. Irvine (they're considering raising it).
I have until May 16th to get this sorted - that's when the seat deposit is due ($500).

admitted with $ from the W/L today. Just when I thought I was finalizing my plans... so many decisions to make. Good luck to everyone on the W/L.

Got in today off the wait list and offered $20,000/year in merit based aid. How amenable do you think USC would be to negotiating my aid higher based on an MVP acceptance?

I also got in with 20k/year and was hoping someone had experience negotiating (UCLA offered just a little more)Excellent117 wrote:Got in today off the wait list and offered $20,000/year in merit based aid. So they are admitting people from the wait list even though others are still sitting at "complete"? What an odd process this is.ricsllscir wrote:I also got in with 20k/year and was hoping someone had experience negotiating (UCLA offered just a little more)Excellent117 wrote:Got in today off the wait list and offered $20,000/year in merit based aid. Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Not to imply anything negative about these wait-list accepted applicants' softs and GPAs but it seems like USC is LSAT-low right now and needs a boost in LSAT stats because the one thing most of these acceptances have in common is an LSAT score at or above 170. I've been sitting at complete since the first week of February and I think that my application has already been read but they're reluctant to ding me immediately and lose me as a potential student unless someone they want more actually commits to them. Since my GPA is very slightly above their median and I doubt that my softs are that much worse (though not necessarily better) than other accepted students, the overwhelming factor appears to be my mid-160s score. It is really very selfish and ass-protecting of them to do this but hey, law school's a business too, right?GoUBears wrote:So they are admitting people from the wait list even though others are still sitting at "complete"? Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was of the same school of thought until I spoke with the USC admissions office recently (within the past couple of days). The impression I got was that there are still apps they have yet to even look at. I wasn't told this explicitly but that's how I interpreted our conversation.SaphirWhorf wrote:Not to imply anything negative about these wait-list accepted applicants' softs and GPAs but it seems like USC is LSAT-low right now and needs a boost in LSAT stats because the one thing most of these acceptances have in common is an LSAT score at or above 170. I also think it's interesting USC is giving everyone $60,000 scholarships off the WL, when people were accepted in the regular pool and given no money... my guess is they must have really undershot their yield.

Seems like they're accepting the people they waitlisted for yield protection.
I'm assuming these students sent a LOCI and so USC felt comfortable offering them admission.

SO... I withdrew a MONTH ago after getting $0, and received confirmation of withdrawal.
And then today they sent me a scholarship for $20K/year. So for those of you that were passed over for scholarships (I didn't try to negotiate), this might be a great time to negotiate or re-negotiate...

I didn't withdraw officially but never deposited, and I got the same offer just now.tjddk wrote:SO... I withdrew a MONTH ago after getting $0, and received confirmation of withdrawal.

I definitely wasn't yield protected - LSAT < 170.

Did anyone read about the scholly requirements? (that you cannot hold a seat at another school?)

Yeah. Was kind of surprised to see that. It doesn't preclude you from riding out waitlists at other schools does it?Worker and Parasite wrote:Did anyone read about the scholly requirements? (that you cannot hold a seat at another school?)
