afaik, very few RD people have heard from Penn, though it is my understanding that they traditionally admit people in waves on Fridays.cogitoergosum wrote:Heck yeah! Me too! How long has it been taking from ucr to decision?KevinP wrote:Under review!

well if you just got it, that definitely means good (or neutral) things rather than them lining up the list to send WLs or somethingTake Two wrote:an 11/22 complete here that just went under review

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
the fact that a good amount of people are having the 1st UR today leads me to believe that Penn has made their decision on those with 2 UR dates...so why waste time Penn, you can pick up the phone and call today...there is no big diff between thursday and Friday.

I hope so. I'm just hoping Penn overlooks the flaws within my application (there are quite a few ;/) and likes my numbersJamMasterJ wrote:yay Kev, we may actually get in somewhere!!!KevinP wrote:Under review!

I would guess around a month or so. Ever since Columbia showed me no love, I'm pretty much set on Penn.cogitoergosum wrote:Heck yeah! Me too! How long has it been taking from ucr to decision?KevinP wrote:Under review!

Their asw is the same day as uva's asw and their preview day is the same as NU's ASW.

Seems they have their committee meetings on Thursdays, then give the decisions on Fridays.

Well it's a damn good thing no one considering Penn would want to go to UVA or NU.dakure wrote:Their asw is the same day as uva's asw and their preview day is the same as NU's ASW.

Is that how it works for Penn? Does everyone get two UR dates before getting a decision?sharktankdean wrote:the fact that a good amount of people are having the 1st UR today leads me to believe that Penn has made their decision on those with 2 UR dates...so why waste time Penn, you can pick up the phone and call today...there is no big diff between thursday and Friday.

No one know for sure, but they do explicitly state on the status checker that every application is reviewed twice---> 2 UR datesSamara wrote:Is that how it works for Penn? Ah, okay, thanks! I didn't catch that in the status checker. Interesting. I guess it's unlikely that I'll get a decision for a while then, huh?msblaw89 wrote:No one know for sure, but they do explicitly state on the status checker that every application is reviewed twice---> 2 UR datesSamara wrote:Is that how it works for Penn? Anyone know if Penn tends to put more weight on the LSAT, GPA, or both?

Some people have gotten in with only one, but most get two.Samara wrote:Is that how it works for Penn? 12/7 Complete, not UR yet.
Anyone with a 12/7 complete go under review?
I think the latest I saw ITT so far was 12/1

They're notoriously protective of their yield. They tend to like people with 3.8+ and between 169 and 172.msblaw89 wrote:Anyone know if Penn tends to put more weight on the LSAT, GPA, or both?
That said, in deference to their yield, they show some splitter love.

If so, that takes me out of the running. If only I had played the game during undergrad.addy11 wrote:They're notoriously protective of their yield. They tend to like people with 3.8+ and between 169 and 172.msblaw89 wrote:Anyone know if Penn tends to put more weight on the LSAT, GPA, or both?

The 3.8 barrier is not absolute though. People definitely get in with 3.7x it just gets dicier. I got in in the first round, granted with a 3.79, but still way under their GPA median.Campagnolo wrote:If so, that takes me out of the running. Yes. It's not a floor, just a preference as I said. Penn has a really high median GPA. It might be their way of cleaning up on the admits with lower LSATs who might be less competitive at CLS/NYU because of their predilection for high LSAT scores.Nelson wrote:The 3.8 barrier is not absolute though. And yeah, Camp. We all wish we had. In the words of the great Omar Little: "The game's out there, and it's play or get played. That simple."
