Don't know if it's a ding or not. I'm inclined to think that they are going to admit me or else why would they ask for clarification? Either way, I'm 99.5% sure I'll be withdrawing either way. Good luck to everyone.

Almost certainly not, especially since I have ~$$$$ at WUSTL.PomasThynchon wrote:Would you consider the $20k/yr over T14's/UCLA, etc? I might not have the same choice but...just curious.Arbiter213 wrote:Got a $20k/year offer via mail today.
And it came about 2 months after I got in via phone-call in a small envelope. I'm still likely to withdraw soon (I was looking for the email address when I got home and found the letter).

In @ BU by phone call/voicemail...I think.
Area code was from boston but the voice mail was so choppy all I could discern was a "Congra---ulations" "B" "Law school".

Just got the call ten minutes ago! Acceptance package will be in the mail tomorrow.
Anyone know if merit scholarship info is typically offered with the acceptance package or at a later date?
Applied in early December, btw.

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
I got accepted 9 days after they got back to me re: the status update, and that email only said "ready for review" at that point. I think there is also some other anecdotal evidence in this thread that requesting an update might correlate to a quicker response (assuming you've already been waiting a couple months like I had been).Gemini wrote:Finally got the official status update reply. Re: BU 2011 Applicants
Congrats to all those admitted and good luck to everyone waiting to hear back!
I'm currently a 1L at BU and would be happy to answer any questions about the school (as well as BC Law which I also considered strongly).
I will offer some general advice over the admissions process that I found applicable through my own experience, perhaps you will find it useless, however, you will soon find good deal of the content on this message board is exactly that.
1. With any correspondence you have with admissions/financial aid folks - keep in mind they are normal people with normal jobs like anybody else. It seems TLS offers all this advice for negotiating scholarships and angling for the right words to get favorable admissions decisions, however, sincerity and honest rapport with an individual will usually go a long way.
2. Dont choose a school on arbitrary reasons. I nearly enrolled at another school before realizing I had placed unwarranted weight on factors unrelated to actual legal education and career prospects.
3. Try and visit a handful of schools to get a comparison of what you like and dont like. Talk to actual students during your visit and just try to get a sense of what they like about the school. Ask to sit in on an actual 1L class (the mock classes held for admitted students days are good, but its better to see what the everyday process looks like).
4. Talk to alumni and practicing attorneys in the region. Many will be willing to provide some information about the job market and status of the school in the region. I'm surprised this isnt mentioned more often, especially among those with little or no professional work experience.
I'm not on TLS a whole lot these days (it still lingers in my browser bookmarks list which gets attention during procrastination benders) - but I'll be sure to get back to anybody who sends me a question.
Once again, best of luck!

BU does housing stipends?!! Awesome! I would take BU over GW even without a competing housing stipend, but if they wanted to throw it in...scruffs mcguff wrote:Where do you two live if I may ask?tipler4213 wrote:I did as well--did you get the 10k housing stipend too?Arbiter213 wrote:Got a $20k/year offer via mail today.
