Marrieds and marrieds w/kids: look at areas outside of the circle around the campus: North Berkeley is fabulous (and near amazing restaurants and schools); Lafayette/Moraga/Walnut Creek (15 minute drive, but right on the BART line ~6 minutes on BART + 20 minutes on bus... you can sit back and read, so it's not a wasted commute) - these areas have amazing schools and are absolutely beautiful; Albany - Berkeley family housing with direct bus to campus, great schools and restaurants nearby, similar commute to towns above.

And Congratulations to all the new admits! I'll be giving some tours this spring for admits doing visits, so hopefully we get a chance to meet. And if you're coming to campus without an official visit, let me know and we can arrange for you to sit in on a class and meet some current 1Ls.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will add it to my list. I wish we could come when school is in session, but this is the only free weekend we both have. It's more about scoping out possible places to live anyway. I will take my time exploring the school during ASW. Looking forward to meeting you then!

My husband and I live in condos near pleasant hill BART and I currently commute in to Berkeley for work and the city for an internship. It's super easy and reading rather than stop and go traffic is great. We just bought, and for CA it's relatively cheap (hubs has a job out here so I've only applied to Berkeley and Hastings. He's not mobile at the moment.) I'd be happy to meet up with you and show you around the WC (walnut creek).

I typed this on my phone...sorry for typos/etc!

r6 I highly recommend Walnut Creek... I grew up there and it's a really lovely place for families (PHill and Lafayette are great too in all fairness, but Walnut Creek has a bit more going on)

Thank you both for the awesome suggestions. We did a bit of looking online and everything looks great so far. We are especially pleased with the housing price (compared to what's around the campus and what you get for said prices). We are staying at P Hill this trip and will scope out all the surrounding areas.

Really looking forward to the trip! I've only been to SF once and I didn't like it a whole lot. (Chinatown was too stinky, even for me lol) Hopefully I will like the other parts better as we like and are used to surburban living.

It seems like usually it happens around now, but they seem to be quite a bit behind schedule this year. Cautious after last cycle maybe.

Just there was a HUGE increase in applicants and a lot of schools were caught off guard by the explosion of later applicants. Most schools have been slower with decisions this year than they were last year.

but yes... I have accepted that I am going to committee review haha

yes, it is like that 'fresh' relationship that is physically appealing/satisfying yet emotionally you feel like something is missing

My fear is that things are going to end before they ever really had a chance to take off. :(

After despairing for a week waiting for the email that didn't come I finally broke down and decided to check my status checker, prepared for disappointment, but it said Admitted! Turns out the email was sent Monday but went to my spam folder.
Moral of the story: check your spam folder!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
