New ranking is up. UHLC ranked 60! Changes the whole game.

That's too bad. It would be nice to see them make some progress towards the 50-mark.springfever wrote:New ranking is up. UHLC ranked 60! Changes the whole game.

None taken. I went to one of the admitted student and alumni receptions and I guess I made a good impression (letting them know I had other options probably didn't hurt either)...moonmaster3 wrote:Damn, no offense to you but I have a 164/3.76. They were always quick to reply to emails and were usually very friendly. That said, I never called so I have no experience with that.
I also got an email with a small scholly. It was enough to finalize my decision so I just mailed my seat deposit. I'll see you guys in the fall!

Well congrats, I'm getting antsier by the day waiting on this decision. For me, it's Houston or bust.
After the 15th, I'm thinking of calling up admissions and groveling.

Who did you speak to? The staff there is so rude and unhelpful when I call that it makes me just want to turn them down right there on the spot.moonmaster3 wrote:I None taken. Also, I'm kind of pissed that I didn't get a scholarship. I have a 162/3.76 and I thought for sure that I'd get one.

Re: In at University of Houston
Over the half-dozen times I have called and one personal visit they've been friendly enough. Not overly or eagerly helpful, but serviceable.
Depends on your expectations and experiences elsewhere, as well as how those in the admissions office feel about their allotment in life. To that, I must add that their office space looks fairly drab and depressing.
I'll also add that I've had the friendliest exchanges via e-mail.

Updated to file in review 4/14/10. Seeing as I more than likely got a ding from Baylor yesterday (it's in the mail), I'm feeling fragile.bauer12 wrote:How many people are still in review for FT here?

I also have 7 years WE in legal/legislative.
I think it was pretty apparent in my PS that I'm not interested in litigation, though, which could have been a determining factor for Baylor.

I think I may shoot an e-mail over to the finaid office about scholarship $$. I've received 5+ scholarships at higher-ranked institutions so I suppose it can't hurt.

haha. Not the direction I want us to go. If Baylor passes UH up, I'll be pissed.springfever wrote:New ranking is up. UHLC ranked 60! Changes the whole game.
I wonder if / how much of a bump UH would get if it axed the PT program.

The PT program is a big part of the school in the eyes of the Dean. It's not going anywhere.madmartigan wrote:I wonder if / how much of a bump UH would get if it axed the PT program.
Don't worry so much about small movement up or down in the rankings. The only people that still pay attention are 0L's, Profs, and alumni of the T14. Your job prospects won't change much if UH goes from 56 to 60. It'll probably stay in the same area for the most part.

In a city as big as Houston, I don't see them ever justifying getting rid of the PT program.

I think it would really be a shame if they did, which I'm sure they won't.BleedBlue83 wrote:In a city as big as Houston, I don't see them ever justifying getting rid of the PT program.
The two programs admission criteria are tracked separately, I'm sure for that very reason. The PT program should be a plus if anything, as it make the overall program more accessible to the public. In what way does the PT program detract from the overall program, since admission criteria are tracked separately?
I've been real pumped about today, deposit day, thinking maybe we'll see an increase in activity... I guess I've got to allow time for the checks to flow in and be accounted for. Maybe next week we'll see some activity?

I think next week will be a big week for decisions. They have to fill in the spots that accepted applicants rejected.rdcws000 wrote:I think it would really be a shame if they did, which I'm sure they won't.BleedBlue83 wrote:In a city as big as Houston, I don't see them ever justifying getting rid of the PT program.
