Yeah, agreed. I'm 50>LSAT>75 and GPA>75. Interviewed in early December. I'm going to withdraw and wish them high yield.oliverotis wrote:Also just got the hold email. LSAT >> 75, GPA ~50.
ETA you expect this type of YP from MVP, this is honestly pretty disappointing coming from CLS. Seems disingenuous.

I'm so confused by this tactic... won't they just drop in rankings by holding the above 75ths people? I will most definitely be withdrawing now, but Columbia was a real contender for me. I had a fantastic interview back in December so this was v unexpected.

My condolences to those who were held- is this the same thing as being put on reserve?

Does anyone have stats on what percent of holds turn into acceptances?

Nope! Holds can turn into acceptances, reserves, and rejections.Applesauce11 wrote:My condolences to those who were held- is this the same thing as being put on reserve?
Not sure if it's a YP strategy or not.

Nope, in the email it says that you can be Acceptance/Rejection/Denial at a later date......I guess it's just not ready to make a decision.Applesauce11 wrote:My condolences to those who were held- is this the same thing as being put on reserve?
I'm excited b/c I love Columbia and it's not a rejection yet!
Edit: Scooped

My condolences to everyone as well for the hold emails, but this is really throwing me off, though; I'm similar to you guys in stats and was also interviewed and I haven't been held (at least not yet).

I'm in the same position. Maybe we're being held for being held?JusPassItToWill wrote:My condolences to everyone as well for the hold emails, but this is really throwing me off, though; I'm similar to you guys in stats and I haven't been held (at least not yet).

Also held. I'm definitely not YP, as I'm 25>50 for LSAT and GPA. I interviewed mid January and was expecting a wait list, so I guess this is a bit better?

I wonder if they did send a ding letter to me and it got lost- how long do you think I should wait before calling them up and confirming that I'm rejected?

Also just put on hold, 25 < LSAT < 50, GPA >> 75. Went complete in November and never interviewed.

Columbia is a long-shot for me (LSAT at 25th, GPA above 75th). Haven't interviewed or anything. Still radio silence

This is really confusing. Sorry to everyone who got the email, but I really think it's some sort of YP strategy and is an ironically positive indicator.
Meanwhile for those of us who haven't heard...not sure whether we should be worried or excited

I am a splitter sitting right on the 75th LSAT, so not too surprising for them to wait on me and see if they need that score.

Yeah, wondering that too. I live on campus and our mail place is.........well, to put it nicely, not super reliable. I don't want to call and be like "Hey fam, so am I rejected or nah?" but I also dont want to wait in agony wondering if they haven't reached a decision yet or if the post office lost my letter.Applesauce11 wrote:I wonder if they did send a ding letter to me and it got lost- how long do you think I should wait before calling them up and confirming that I'm rejected?

My mailman seems to like delivering giant heaps of mail at one time and then almost nothing for weeks on end. I tried complaining but there's no proof that he's doing anything wrong. Maybe I'll find out that I'm rejected in June...lolRCscrewyou wrote:Yeah, wondering that too. I live on campus and our mail place is.........well, to put it nicely, not super reliable. No hold status, no waitlist email, no admit email, no admit package, and no rejection letter. Am I missing any others?
Edit: Maybe I never applied. Maybe my application is in the trash. Maybe the world doesn't actually exist.
