On the bright side, I was named a semi-finalist for the Fulbright grant today. I want to update HLS ASAP. Any advice on how to do it? I was planning on just writing it in an email.

That is indeed odd, but I think it is highly unlikely that it is a mistake. Thank you!! Turns out that my phone was out of service and they left a voicemail (that I wasn't notified of). Can't believe it!!!!!!!QuentonCassidy wrote:That is indeed odd, but I think it is highly unlikely that it is a mistake. I'm pretty bummed, too. I'm trying to tell myself that it's not over until the email comes. It's only slightly helping.Hildegard15 wrote:Let's be miserable together. I went into the bathroom at work and cried.tflan19 wrote:anyone still getting calls?

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
First off, congratulations! I had the same dilemma last year and my law school advisor was fairly firm that I should not tell them anything until I actually received the Fulbright. Her reasoning was that it sets an odd precedent if you tell them you're making other plans for next year (like they could then waitlist/ding you knowing that you could apply again with a stronger app), and it could be potentially awkward if you are not chosen for the grant.bell wrote:Agreed.

That said, congrats again! Do what you feel is best. I waited until actually receiving it to notify any schools. And good luck with both your Fulbright and your law school apps!

They tweeted 13 minutes ago that the admissions office will be closed for the MLK day... I guess it's the end of the J2 wave for today... I'm so devastated, I thought today was going to be the day for me... ;(

I'm also afraid that we won't see another wave for a long time given that (according to twitter) they called in all the troops to get these calls out and finished todayebouchard wrote:They tweeted 13 minutes ago that the admissions office will be closed for the MLK day... Don't mean to butt into JS2 celebrations, but anyone who's done a JS1 want to speculate on how much it actually counts? I'm thinking the value is limited to rooting out the unstable/truly socially inept, and taking the edge off whatever's left of the school's "big factory" image.
I def wasn't rambling in mine, but it felt like the interviewer was just politely waiting for me to finish talking after each prompt. For better or worse, it kinda felt like whatever decision is to come had already been made...

My understanding is that after a JS1 you're just waiting for a faculty member to personally sign off on you now.bobgenghiskhan wrote:Don't mean to butt into JS2 celebrations, but anyone who's done a JS1 want to speculate on how much it actually counts? You have to get signed off on by an admissions Dean to get the interview in the first place.
That's what I recall from JS's inside the black box article.

Yo, according to the spreadsheet the average is 26.8 days. For what it's worth, mine took ~3 weeks (spanned the holidays). Hope this helps!Draconem wrote:+1Po$eidon wrote:How fast has the turnaround from complete to JS1 been on average? I think I'm doomed.

It's only a tiny bit of consolation to my broken heart, but Stanford's thread has fallen to the second page of the forum. We remain supreme.
