Is there anyone who submitted late December or earlier who still hasn't heard back yet? Is there still hope for us? I'm starting to get really nervous.

I was also worried about that, but if they were going to waitlist us, wouldn't they already have done so already during that crazy waitlist wave on Feb 21? Idk, maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that I still have a good chance as my numbers would suggest.js1663 wrote:Submitted November and still waiting - Though also expecting a waitlist/YP so can't say I'm very hopeful.valen wrote:Meee, not very hopeful thoughYeezusPiece wrote:Is there anyone who submitted late December or earlier who still hasn't heard back yet? edit: I'll probably end up combing through the thread anyways, but does someone want to give me the usual spiel (how long to get the acceptance packet, scholarship requirements/offers, etc.)? Thanks!

Re: Michigan Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
So i was WL'd mid-feb (they didnt hold for my feb lsat score). Emailed Michigan my new Feb LSAT score and one of the admissions officers suggested I send a LOCI soon since they would be reviewing my file again with my new score soon. This might be a really dumb question but I'm writing a LOCI and in addition to talking about clinics and real stuff, do you think I should add a line at the end about how I'm excited for Wolverine football with john harbaugh at the helm? I'm originally from the bay (and put the niners on the interest section of my resume).
Also, I was wondering if anyone thought it would be useful if I sent a LOR from my school's study body president? I'm his chief of staff and have been heavily involved in student government so he knows the work I've done really well and he's also really intelligent. I know this sounds lame, feel free to laugh and say no but I can't ask my law firm boss (co-worker said he wrote an absolutely terrible LOR), and I go to a large public university where the student government actually does a lot of stuff.
Any advice would be appreciated!

For a data point, this exact thing happened to me. WL before score. then Got the email that I should communicate something soon to differentiate myself.stephcurry wrote:So i was WL'd mid-feb (they didnt hold for my feb lsat score). I really don't know how to judge a LOR from someone like that. if anything, I feel like they would just worry about you having a hand in writing the letter. not sure what I think about it thoughstephcurry wrote:So i was WL'd mid-feb (they didnt hold for my feb lsat score). definitely add the part about Hargaugh. I grew up in Ohio and football = life there, especially the Big Game. plus i feel like there's a positive effect just making you look like a more genuine person rather than someone who just studied their website really hard. i did something similar for another school and it paid off. good luck!

They want LORs from people that can speak to your academic abilities. Get professors. The LOR from your USGA president would not help you, in fact, in lieu of an academic LOR, could hurt you.stephcurry wrote:So i was WL'd mid-feb (they didnt hold for my feb lsat score). Make sure you write that Michigan's new coach is Jim Harbaugh, not John Harbaugh. John is Jim's brother (and coach of the Ravens).stephcurry wrote:So i was WL'd mid-feb (they didnt hold for my feb lsat score). Hey all,
I'm a 1L at Umich and am procrastinating work so am free to answer any questions you may have about the school, the community, Ann Arbor in general etc.
I was admitted off the waitlist last June so for all of you who are waiting to hear, perhaps I can be of some assistance to you as well!

You have one evening in Ann Arbor to grab dinner and then go out to bars/whatever after. Where do you go?best.of.luck wrote:Hey all,

You have to get Zingermans, at least from my visit I made it a priority.secadc11 wrote:You have one evening in Ann Arbor to grab dinner and then go out to bars/whatever after. Where do you go?best.of.luck wrote:Hey all,

When I visited they brought it up so then I discussed my interest in them and that they'd hopefully hire Harbaugh (hadn't been hired yet). Otherwise I wouldn't have brought it up: my 2 cents.tincan678 wrote:Honestly mentioning Harbaugh at all seems a little cliche. If you can pull it off, go ahead, but I would expect tons of applicants to pull the Michigan football card.

Depends how much you want to pay and the type of food you want.
If you're down for the more expensive fare I'd go to mani for italian, isalita for mexican, tomukun for korean bbq or pacific rim for japanese.
If you're going for cheaper food, there are a ton of happy hour specials around. For a beer and burger go to Ashley's, Tomcat, or Ann Arbor Brewing Company.
If you're just looking to get a drink I recommend World of Beer or Black Pearl. Mash has live music during the weekend and is a popular place. For going out the frattiest bars are Ricks and Rush.
When you wake up the next morning, hungover and questioning every life decision you've ever made, I highly recommend no thai or a chipati from Pizza bobs
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
