Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
What if we are reading this totally wrong? What if it is the opposite? Only a few people have received these mysterious "B" calls. Perhaps they are only calling those applicants they are on the fence about to see if it is even worth investing an admissions offer on them. They already made up their mind about the rest of us (and we are all in!
)
PS. I didn't mean to offend anyone who got the "B" call today. This is just a self-serving attempt to make myself feel better about my slim chances...

While they may have made some decisions outside of the JS1bs, the JS1bs still have a better chance at a JS2 right now.Aussiebum wrote:What if we are reading this totally wrong? Should we put something for JS1bs on the spreadsheet?

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
Too small a pool of js1b's to say that for sure. I would expect many more js2's coming soon than just a handful. I mean, even if 5 (isn't that generous) people got js1b's on TLS - that's only 30 in total. Not enough to fill~250 spots.TripTrip wrote:While they may have made some decisions outside of the JS1bs, the JS1bs still have a better chance at a JS2 right now.Aussiebum wrote:What if we are reading this totally wrong? Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
fyi, one of the JS1bers told me that the call lasted less than two minutes and involved just two questions:
Financial considerations were not a part of their JS1.Would financial considerations play a role in your decision if admitted? If yes, what level of commitment would you need to attend H?

Just like to throw out there that'd I'd be pretty pissed to get the 617 call and have it not be a JS2...

I wonder if any Js1b's WERE asked the same q in their js1. Maybe these B's are just a follow up Q from the Js1's that was left out.TripTrip wrote:fyi, one of the JS1bers told me that the call lasted less than two minutes and involved just two questions:Financial considerations were not a part of their JS1.Would financial considerations play a role in your decision if admitted? Not that it makes a difference, but I've counted 7 JS1bs so far. This includes people who PMed instead of posting here.toothbrush wrote:Too small a pool of js1b's to say that for sure. Insider info strikes again. Still ~50. Not what I'd expect from the first round if the idea were to hold that all js1bs will be the first round of js2sLavitz wrote:Not that it makes a difference, but I've counted 7 JS1bs so far. I guess the good news is the wave is coming in the next couple of days. Regardless of the outcome hopefully we will know before our hosing/other financial commitments are due at other schools (Friday in my case).

I think more ppl got js1b than are reporting. Just a thought.
Possible they will finish up w js1bs tmrw? They did start at the end of the work day today.
Not that I expect to be in that pile either.

I don't think I've ever received so many PMs in a single day.
Anyway, my guess for JS2s is Thursday. No inside info, just based on the "in the next couple of days" language.

Isn't it possible that at this point they only do need approx 50 ppl to pull from the waitlist? Fb group still pretty large.

Even though I'm in the "damn, I hope some of those URMs choose $$ elsewhere" boat, these last couple pages have been super stressful.

No, I was actually working on my LOCI when I got the call. It was a really brief call asking basically what are my plans, where are you waitlisted at, and what about the financial considerations. None of the questions were repeats from my KB1.applemaroon wrote:Did people that got the feeler call submit a LOCI?

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2013
I just got back to my computer and wanted to add my KB1b to the list. The feeling I'm getting is that if you had a call today, the JS2 is basically a formality at this point. But I could be wrong, so it might be helpful if someone added a column on the spreadsheet for this.
FWIW, there was no question about financial considerations. The main question in my conversation was whether I'm "still excited about Harvard." And I was told something about "this week."
Sorry, Lavitz. I guess they're keeping the best for the last.

O-M-G you guys. I come home from work and I have to deal with all this crazy shit that's done gone down?
Serious question: I work out in the boonies with zero cell service. I've been leaving my phone home with my family.
Thoughts on this--in the hypothetical, unlikely event that I DO get a call from H, what's the best way to handle it? If I'm not there to answer, will my chances of getting in be reduced?!?!?

I'm assuming you mean a JS1b and not a JS2. My guess is they wouldn't call you without giving you an extra day to respond. So say they do JS1bs tomorrow, then I doubt they'd give out (all) JS2s tomorrow. Then you could either call back Friday morning. Or maybe in the voicemail, JS will ask you to answer a few questions by e-mail. At least one person was told to e-mail them by tomorrow morning with their decision on whether or not they would accept if admitted.mickeysevenn wrote:Thoughts on this--in the hypothetical, unlikely event that I DO get a call from H, what's the best way to handle it?
