Update for people planning to negotiate.

My original award was for a total of $45,000 (3 years)

I used awards from UCLA and Vandy which were both around $80,000 total (3 years)

Texas matched+ with a new offer of $84,000 total

Good luck everyone!

What are you waiting on, Zuck??

I feel like an idiot for doing it, but there's probably going to be a Chancellor's worth of scholarship money available after tomorrow. :?

Dibs!!!

Waiting on a job offer for my fiancée that would most likely determine where we will end up. But it's looking more and more likely that I'll end up at UT so I went ahead and made my deposit today!

Why is it so hard to find any info on the first deposit? Can someone point me to a link explaining the submission process?

It's $200, you can pay online here https://utdirect.utexas.edu/acct/rec/wio/wio_home.WBX. Not sure if you're wanting more info.

Thanks! :) Although I'm not 100% attending UT because there are some other options still in the mix. I am pretty pumped to potentially attend UT though, especially living in Austin!

Is standard protocol just a note to admissions dean/office to withdraw and acceptance? Or is there another way?

I did a singing telegram.

No, but seriously, just a "Thanks for your offer of admission, however, at this time I must withdraw from consideration" email is best.

lol exactly what I did last night

I've decided that I will probably be taking the money at UT over higher-ranked schools. Anyone tried to negotiate for the Townes-Rice scholarship and had any luck? Getting paid to go to law school would be awesome.

Hi all, I'm applying next cycle and UT is a school that I'm interested in. I've been following this thread since November and it's been very informative so far. I have a couple quick questions for anyone willing to answer.
I've noticed that merit scholarships supposedly start at 3.6/168, which from what I can gather is information posted by Dean Ingram in the admitted students facebook thread. Apparently those numbers get you "$12,000;" is this number per year or for spread over all 3? Also, do those of you who followed this thread last cycle before applying this cycle have any thoughts about applications for next cycle? Specifically whether or not the scholarships floor will move significantly?
I realize this will just be speculation but you all seem well informed so I'd be interested to have your perspectives. Thanks, and good luck to those of you still waiting!!

That number is per year. Also the "floor" exists much more so for the LSAT than GPA, and it was essentially lowered to 167 this year by all indications. Many people with high LSATs and GPAs less than 3.6 got 12 or 15k per year plus in-state tuition. I'd expect this to stay pretty similar next year, with a chance of it being slightly more favorable, but I really doubt it will be significantly so.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
