I emailed law-financialaid@uiowa.edu and then Dean Byrd responded this morning. At a different ASW someone told me that they asked for the stipulations to be removed and the emails sounded very similar. My guess is that they already have it written up and just copy and pasted it. If you haven't heard back in awhile, maybe that is a good thing? or they possibly just forgot to respond to the email.

Hmm...I emailed the lady that emailed me about my scholarship offer. Maybe I'll try re-sending it to that address. Thanks!

I agree with this, but I figure when trying to decide between two great offers with stipulations, you might as well try to make one advantageous over the other.

Anyone getting excited for the upcoming ASW? I'm itching to get out of Austin and get back to the Great State for a weekend.

+1 I would be itching to get out of Austin too, it sucks. (sorry, the San Antonio in me itches to say that every time Austin comes up)

Haha in all seriousness, Austin is one of the best cities in the United States, especially for young people. But home is home, and I like to get back now and then.

PS-- GO SPURS GO! I was at the Spurs v Bulls game Wed night. Magic. My family has season tickets, and I make it a point to make the trips half dozen times each semester.

Any word on how easy/realistic it is to get in-state for 2L and 3L?

I was told by staff that it's about an 80% chance that you get RA positions if you are out of state

For what its worth, Iowa City Lodge, No. 4 is not too far from campus and has some younger members. They're always receptive to visitors especially if you're familliar with the work. They also have a rather strking lodge room, done beautifully in hardwood.

Work on the brief that is due on Monday has made me wonder if there is, indeed, any help for the widow's son. Alas, back to labor from refreshment...

FWIW you can secure a RA position in a department outside of the law school or be a TA in an undergraduate course and get the instate standing. I believe the administration said last year there were only three people from the 2L and 3L classes that did not secure instate and it was because of their own stupidity.

The vast majority of people are RA's their 2L year for residency. Most of the out of staters secure instate residency their 3L year through executive positions for journals or co-curricular programs like moot court etc. (Basing this last part off of the numbers the administration gave out at their meeting).

FWIW I was accepted the same day as ASW with a full ride.. They dropped the ball on my application as well. Iowa and Colorado were notoriously slow my cycle.
