Would it be worth it to pay sticker at Minnesota (out of state)? I would ideally like to move back to my homestate of cali and practice there.

I too am considering UMN despite the fact that I am from the west coast (raised in oregon, undergrad and currently living in Cali), and have some west coast bias. You may find some of the comments in the "choosing a school" thread I started to be interesting:gothamm wrote:Would it be worth it to pay sticker at Minnesota (out of state)? There isn't a class of 2014 thread yet is there? I might start one...

Eh, they emailed me today offering to waive my application fee. Their app was pretty easy so I just went with it. 167 3.14, no expectations really but whatever I guess it can't hurt. Like it was said a few posts back, 167+ looks pretty good for acceptance chances.

It appears that they are pushing hard for applicants with high LSAT scores this year. Two of my friends with sub 3.0 GPAs received acceptance letters with 167+ LSAT scores. Neither received scholarship info however.

Yeah, there's a pretty hard line at 167 with only a handful of exceptions on LSN. One of my friends has yet to hear back with a 163/3.8x. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for her, there are two non-urms on LSN accepted with a 162/163 and 3.8ish GPAs.Berdman wrote:It appears that they are pushing hard for applicants with high LSAT scores this year. I would think she has a decent shot. Schools that take a lot of splitters need some people on the other end of the spectrum, i.e. high GPA/lower LSAT, to keep things in balance.kjadkins wrote:Yeah, there's a pretty hard line at 167 with only a handful of exceptions on LSN. I don't know why you have no expectations, unless it's because of how late in the cycle we are. I am pretty much your numbers twin (167/3.15) and was accepted w/ 20k/yr, even though I didn't apply until March 1st. I think this is where I'm going to be in the fall.play2win wrote:Eh, they emailed me today offering to waive my application fee. In fact, I'm posting this from a hotel in Minneapolis, eagerly anticipating the ASW over the next couple of days!

Wow, that is actually pretty cool. And yeah, it was because I applied so late in the cycle. Congrats on your acceptance. Where else did you apply?Tim0thy222 wrote:I don't know why you have no expectations, unless it's because of how late in the cycle we are. How long did it take them to get back to you? Because after my application went complete, I received an email from them indicating that a response would be delivered in 10-12 weeks. I emailed them back explaining that some schools were waiting for a response from me on April 15th (they probably didn't like that, but I was very nice) but they basically told me tough shit and they'll get back to me when they get back to me.

I got the acceptance call on March 19th. I sent a bunch of last minute apps out on march 1st when I realized I needed some more back ups, and surprisingly, while minnesota let me in quickly, I was waitlisted at W&M, Emory, Iowa, and even American (though I think American was a yield protection thing). You can check out the whole thing on my LSN profile if you're curious.

I've been "in review" since 3/8 so I'm anticipating some sort of waitlist. UMN has kind of fallen off my radar at this point.

No, "waiting for review" is a stage before IR.rdavi012 wrote:my status is "waiting for review" since 2/28..is that the same as IR?

Did anyone else get a call from Minnesota to "follow up?"
