How many pre-thanksgiving JR1s/no JR2s are left? Should we basically concede the "hold" at this point?

Yes, but the record for pre-thanksgiving Jr1s/no early Jr2s seems pretty grim based on last cycles threads.Ragged wrote:Are numbers in your profile accurate?jdstl wrote:How many pre-thanksgiving JR1s/no JR2s are left? Should we basically concede the "hold" at this point?

Short of a criminal record I don't see why you wouldn't get in. Did you send in a stickman figure as your PS or insulted JR during the interview?

Maybe I was "incepted" and did and don't remember it, lol. Relatively non-prestigious undergrad, though.Ragged wrote:jdstl wrote:Yes, but the record for pre-thanksgiving Jr1s/no early Jr2s seems pretty grim based on last cycles threads.Ragged wrote:Are numbers in your profile accurate?jdstl wrote:How many pre-thanksgiving JR1s/no JR2s are left? So based on last year's forum, next week should be when all early apps (all September and at least the first half of October) hear back (assuming you have not already been admitted). We either get held or denied. I am guessing relatively few people get held and the bulk get denied. Odds ain't good at this point!

Either the wait is over (rejection) or the wait continues (hold).

While the odds are against it (just as odds are against admission in the first place), some holds are outright accepted. It is still possible to be pulled out of the hold pile and get a JR1/JR2 at any point in the cycle after a hold. Unlikely, but possible. I wonder if they somehow rank the holds? I think most of the holds are, um, held until April when they are either accepted, WLed, or denied.

What about those of us who applied around Thanksgiving? Should we be hearing back soon as well?

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
So for all those who are expecting to get rejected/held/wait listed in the next couple of weeks, are you going to send an updated transcript before or after? I got a 4.0 this semester so my gpa went up and now I want to send them an updated transcript before they decide to hold/reject/wait list me in case it might make a difference. Do you think I should send an email letting them know about the update in case LSAC takes a while to process it and they don't get it before they send my decision, or is there no point because my fate has already been sealed? Also any advice on the appropriate email content to write? Thankssss!

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
I think at this point they already know what "pile" we're in. I went ahead and sent new grades today (expect to be held), but I don't think it'll stop the hold. But whenever they start re-reviewing the "hold" files (which they necessarily do, not so with the wait list), they'll see our new grades, recs, whatever.eaa1537 wrote:So for all those who are expecting to get rejected/held/wait listed in the next couple of weeks, are you going to send an updated transcript before or after? Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
But I can't even send an updated transcript yet because I wrote my senior thesis last semester and that grade takes the longest of all to come out. Should I send LSAC an updated transcript anyway without that grade? I feel like it's crucial since my advisor wrote me a LOR. But if I wait until the end of January (when it's scheduled to come out), I'm afraid it'll be too late. :/

Not applying to Harvard, but I am in the same spot w/lower T14 so I sent them an email summarizing my grades and asked them to stand by for proof. They seemed receptive
