I'm not sure...right now I'm thinking probably just until I submit my (nonrefundable) seat deposit to whatever school I end up choosing. Out of my acceptances, BU is my first choice. I can't realistically see myself moving to Boston, signing a lease, putting down a seat deposit and then coming back to Austin in August IF I was to get off the waitlist. I don't have the $$ resources to do that.

I'm not sure, I just wasn't expecting a WL. I was really hoping to get in, as I've heard so many great things about Austin and the school. I guess it would have helped to visit and meet with people in admissions, but I don't have much money to spend traveling and I decided to wait and spend the money visiting schools to which I was accepted.

Probably better you didn't visit Austin. I visited and fell in love with the town. Went on a tour and honestly I was not very impressed with the law building/facilities. Kind of put UT on the backburner because of my visit/ I expected to be dinged, but now that I am (presumably) still in the running, I probably will submit a LOCI in a week or two.

*Shrug* I'll ask next weekend for you though. Unless UT changed their program the feredal 10yrs/10% is the best option. I guess.

They called about 5:30 pm. I applied in mid-January, so I'm very surprised to have heard by now. Maybe it wasn't the admissions office at all. Maybe it was a friend playing a mean joke. That is an easy way for someone to get themselves killed.

lol! that's exactly what I thought when I got the call--that someone was playing a prank. I ended up calling the main LS number and confirming. I think it's the real deal--Congrats!!

i actually called when i was applying and was told to instead weave a "why Texas" into your personal statement. they didnt want to read 3 separate essays (personal statement, diversity statement, and a why Texas).

Yeah, I think I'm going to withdraw. Perhaps I should wait until I visit Duke, but I just can't see myself at UT. Duke is easily worth $36k more than UT I think. Unless my perceptions about UT's biglaw placement are completely misguided...

I submitted my application on 2/1 and they mailed my acceptance letter on 3/3 (though I haven't received the actual letter yet).

So is there a consensus about the UT waitlist? I know it's not good but do some people actually get off it? I asked a UT 1L who knows quite a few people who got off the waitlist....also does anyone know when will UT start to review apps again

PM me if you want a recommendation for a decent apartment complex in Austin. It's a few miles removed from school, in NW Austin, so it's not the best choice if you prefer to be within walking distance or the law school ... however, it's on a bus line that will literally drop you right in front of the law school, if you don't mind the commute (~20 mins). Many grad students live in the area, as well. Good complex, great management, decent price. I've been happy here.
