So one has gotten in yet? Honestly i think this years cycle will be nothing like last years. I don't think defferals mean anything, i mean autoadmits have been deffered along side with autorejects.

So then why are people who went complete earlier than those who've received deferrals still at EA Complete? I have a hard time believing NO ONE will get in EA this year. A very hard time, in fact.

How did you get that he thinks no one will be accepted EA from his post?

+100! The key question though, I think, is whether there will be EA rejections. So far it's all deferrals, correct? Do we think they're just deferring/accepting everyone, or deferring/accepting/rejecting?

That's weird. They told me last week when I called that these deferrals were for all the "assholes" who referenced Andy Bernard in the "Why Cornell" section.

That's what you get, assholes.

I am a patient boy
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait
My time is water down a drain

Everybody's moving
Everybody's moving
Everything is moving,
Moving, moving, moving

Please don't leave me to remain
In the waiting room

I don't want the news
(I cannot use it)
I don't want the news
(I won't live by it)

Sitting outside of town
Everybody's always down
(Tell me why)

Because they can't get up
(Ahhh... Come on and get up)
(Come on and get up)

But I won't sit idly by
(Ahhh...)
I'm planning a big surprise
I'm gonna fight
For what I want to be

And I won't make the same mistakes
(Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
(And function)
Function is the key
Inside the waiting room

I don't want the news
(I cannot use it)
I don't want the news
(I won't live by it)

Sitting outside of town
Everybody's always down
(Tell me why)

Because they can't get up
(Ahhh... Come on and get up)
Up from the waiting room

Sitting in the waiting room
(Ahhh...)
Sitting in the waiting room
(Ahhh...)
Sitting in the waiting room
(Ahhh...)
Sitting in the waiting room
(Ahhh...)

(Tell me why)
Because they can't get up

So i had my interview with Cornell today and it went well.

I also spoke the dean of admissions about all this deferral business. He explained that there has been a significant uptick in applications (16%). he also said that they were not sure if it was just people applying earlier or more people or what. he also said that during the last recession they ended up with too many students and did not have enough room for them. They are trying to avoid that this year!

Sounds like they still intend to accept people during EA then. Just too many people applied, making them defer a lot while reviewing the rest of EA. That's good news!

That blurb was an IT mistake, no? So, I wouldn't count on it.
I don't think it was an IT mistake. What makes you say that? I looked at the old thread and I don't see where it says that.

sounds like they will probably be trying to raise their #s too if they really do have that many more applicants. interesting, thanks for this info!

From last year, in the old thread:

no. they fixed the admitted students site glitch.

Yeah, but still. Deferring a 175/3.7? I mean what are they waiting for?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
