I just did a quick LSN search for people with around my numbers from last cycle, and was disappointed to see that MANY did not hear until very late April/early May!! (Most were waitlisted, some rejected, and a few got in, but they heard earlier.) Seriously??? Aren't other schools' deposit deadlines all well before that?

I did indeed, via e-mail. If I recall Faye recommended it in one of her blogs.crackberry wrote:Did you send a LOCI pre-acceptance BioE?BioEBear2010 wrote:Yes. You can also send them a LOCI.hiromoto45 wrote:Hey can you send in a recommendation after you file is UR?

Just a little over three months. I applied/went complete in mid-October and sent the LOCI in mid-January.nattybro wrote: How long after going complete did you send it?

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I'm thinking of sending a LOCI but I haven't really done anything of note since last semester, except boost my gpa by .08, which they should already know since they got my new transcript. would it still be worth it to send one? :/

First of all, that's an incredible GPA boost for one semester. Holy cow.nixxers wrote:I'm thinking of sending a LOCI but I haven't really done anything of note since last semester, except boost my gpa by .08, which they should already know since they got my new transcript. would it still be worth it to send one? :/
And yes, let them know that you're still interested! Feel free to PM me also

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I agree with BioE, that's a huge boost. Even if it doesn't put you over a 25/50/75 number, I'd send an update. Dean Deal's blog said it couldn't hurt.nixxers wrote:I'm thinking of sending a LOCI but I haven't really done anything of note since last semester, except boost my gpa by .08, which they should already know since they got my new transcript. would it still be worth it to send one? :/
Keep it short and clear, though. After looking over my LOCI after being held at HLS, I understand why I haven't gotten at JR1 email. Brevity...not my strong suit.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
PPl in the Yale thread were talking about a few "bigger admit batch" days (mid, late march, and mid april), is there anything comparable for Stanford?
Just curious.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I've been getting peeved with other schools for this reason, but not Stanford. It's well-known that Stanford operates on a timeline more like UG admissions, where the vast majority don't get a decision until late March/early April. Managing expectations is everything, and Stanford does a better job of it than some other Bay Area schools I can think of (f-ing hippies).eas331 wrote:I'm with you guys -- ready to know already!maggiebre wrote:thistintin wrote:i used to do that, now im just annoyed that i don't know already.hermione0901 wrote:Is it bad that I have now taken to celebrating just because there wasn't a rejection letter in my mail?

Do you think it would be inappropriate to send in a LOCI considering I sent in my app on Jan 30? They probably haven't even had a chance to review it yet.

Should I address my LOCI to Dean Deal, the Admissions Committee, or both?

My Harvard LOCI was addressed to JR and the admissions committee. I'd say both.quetzalcoatl wrote:Should I address my LOCI to Dean Deal, the Admissions Committee, or both?

I don't really think it matters. Fwiw I just sent mine to the Admissions Committee.crackberry wrote:My Harvard LOCI was addressed to JR and the admissions committee. I'd say both.quetzalcoatl wrote:Should I address my LOCI to Dean Deal, the Admissions Committee, or both?
The difference with Harvard is that JR sends the hold e-mail -- sending a LOCI is responding to him directly. Stanford doesn't hold, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate to send it to Faye Deal.

How long ago did you go complete? If you haven't heard anything from them in a while I think it's worth updating them. Telling a school they are your first choice surely can't hurttintin wrote:hm, i wonder if i should send one? let them know im gainfully employed since applying in oct and will def go if they let me in? think its worth it?

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Same, except I applied on 1/7. It's approaching two months now, so I suppose it's not ridiculous. I really want Stanford to know that I would absolutely attend. I get nervous looking at my resume and seeing all my East Coast ties, what Stanford will think of that in terms of seriousness about the school. I'm writing up a LOCI now even though I don't have a whole lot of news. Should I consider getting another LOR to send to them? It seems kind of late to ask someone for an LOR and have it get to Stanford before they make a decision.adameus wrote:Do you think it would be inappropriate to send in a LOCI considering I sent in my app on Jan 30?
