i used to do that, now im just annoyed that i don't know already.

I just did a quick LSN search for people with around my numbers from last cycle, and was disappointed to see that MANY did not hear until very late April/early May!! (Most were waitlisted, some rejected, and a few got in, but they heard earlier.) Seriously??? Aren't other schools' deposit deadlines all well before that?

Just a little over three months. I applied/went complete in mid-October and sent the LOCI in mid-January.

I'm thinking of sending a LOCI but I haven't really done anything of note since last semester, except boost my gpa by .08, which they should already know since they got my new transcript. would it still be worth it to send one? :/

I agree with BioE, that's a huge boost. Even if it doesn't put you over a 25/50/75 number, I'd send an update. Dean Deal's blog said it couldn't hurt.

Keep it short and clear, though. After looking over my LOCI after being held at HLS, I understand why I haven't gotten at JR1 email. Brevity...not my strong suit.

I've been getting peeved with other schools for this reason, but not Stanford. It's well-known that Stanford operates on a timeline more like UG admissions, where the vast majority don't get a decision until late March/early April. Managing expectations is everything, and Stanford does a better job of it than some other Bay Area schools I can think of (f-ing hippies).

My Harvard LOCI was addressed to JR and the admissions committee. I'd say both.

The difference with Harvard is that JR sends the hold e-mail -- sending a LOCI is responding to him directly. Stanford doesn't hold, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate to send it to Faye Deal.

I wasnt going to actually send it to her, but I was going to add her name specifically in the letter itself

How long ago did you go complete? If you haven't heard anything from them in a while I think it's worth updating them. Telling a school they are your first choice surely can't hurt

im not counting on berkeley. and id rather get into stanford than wait around for berkely to maybe pull through!

Same, except I applied on 1/7. It's approaching two months now, so I suppose it's not ridiculous. I really want Stanford to know that I would absolutely attend. I get nervous looking at my resume and seeing all my East Coast ties, what Stanford will think of that in terms of seriousness about the school. I'm writing up a LOCI now even though I don't have a whole lot of news. Should I consider getting another LOR to send to them? It seems kind of late to ask someone for an LOR and have it get to Stanford before they make a decision.
