Re: In at Duke!
In at Duke! I received a phone call from Dean Hoye today at approximately 11:00. Applied ED for JD/LLM and went complete/review 11/29. I was contacted for an on-campus interview and met with Dean Hoye on the 18th of December. Very interesting interview over an hour.
Not quite what I expected, and some very direct questions/concerns regarding my personal circumstances. I am an older, married, non-traditional student with children, starting a second career. I am excited to attend Duke Law, and would recommend taking advantage of an on-campus interview if you have the opportunity. I am a firm believer that the interview made the difference in the decision.
Wishing everyone luck with their cycle and a Merry Christmas. Please feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.

Since I don't really feel like lurking through 60+ pages, does anyone know the normal length of time between "in review" and a decision?

I was admitted and turned in my scholarship application. At what point should I assume that no large scholarship will be forthcoming due to the lack of an interview invite. Does anyone know how many Mordecais are awarded a year and how many people are asked to campus to interview?

Sorry to hear that, at least you're in at other great schools. It's been deathly quiet around this board lately...I'm hoping the admissions folks return from the Christmas slumber soon -- with happy thoughts, joy, and good tidings for all.wackjickham wrote:Anyone else just get a WL email?

I was also under review since early October - but just got in via email. So the long wait isn't always wl or dingCyLaw wrote:I don't know the normal length of time. Sorry to repost, but no one has responded. When I began my applications, Duke was one of my top choices, but I don't know that I can justify the cost at Duke when I've already gotten into top 5 schools. Any sort of substantial scholarship could definitely pull me back towards Duke, but if one isn't coming, I guess I will have to withdraw to free up a spot for someone else.

And I have no idea when specifically they give out scholarships. But from what I read here and LSN, they give out money continuously. I think you would get invited to apply for Mordecai once they review your scholarship form at the earliest. (although I'm guessing invites go out in batches). I wouldn't give up hope on money yet. Give it until the end of jan or feb at least.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
