Anyone have any insight into how decisions are communicated? All waitlists/dings/holds via email? All acceptances via mail? Or all domestic acceptances via mail, all international via email?

So far, by my recollection, it's been email for everything except for acceptances with named scholarships (Butler and Hamilton, plus the Public Interest Fellowship), which have come only via mail. I believe for internationals notification has only come via email, including for scholarships.4LTsPointingNorth wrote:Anyone have any insight into how decisions are communicated? I got my acceptance (incl. Hamilton) via email, and then received the letter in the mail a week or so later. I think they may have switched to email as we get closer to the end of the cycle...

I got my acceptance via snail mail, no email, no scholarship. But I live in NYC, so maybe that's why (still took three days to make it to me thoughLetsGoMets wrote:So far, by my recollection, it's been email for everything except for acceptances with named scholarships (Butler and Hamilton, plus the Public Interest Fellowship), which have come only via mail. Thanks for the clarifications. Clearly there's been some inconsistency here, which isn't that surprising considering Columbia's reputation for not having the most efficient or organized administration.

Got held -- anyone have info about how many get in? Is there multiple tiers?

Another Reserve/Waitlist checking in. Sort of surprised since Columbia's a definite reach with my numbers. Applied at the end of January (about 3 months after submitting all of my other apps) as sort of a Hail Mary because I've outperformed my numbers at other T14s. Still, figured Columbia was an outright rejection. I almost wish they would get it over with instead of postponing the inevitable till the end of May

Hi,
Just had my interview. It was pretty casual. I was asked Why Columbia, and since I am an engineering major, why such a dramatic career change.
I would appreciate it if someone could let me know how long after their interview did they get a decision in.
Thanks!

+1 except for the thing about outperforming numbers at other schools.JuanitaFromTheDiner wrote:Another Reserve/Waitlist checking in. Sorry to those from the WL wave today. If you don't mind, would you share your complete dates? I applied really late, but I'm still going out of my mind.

I'm guessing the next wave is going to be rejections...Pretty sure I'll be on that distribution list

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I mean if it follows that a school holds out for WLs/Rejections until the end of the cycle (which I read somewhere so idk how truthful it is) and we just saw a wave of only WLs (soley based on this thread of course) then perhaps the next wave is just rejections. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure we're all doing our best to stay afloat regardless and I wish everyone nothing but the best of luck!

I was admitted exactly a week after my interview. I think someone else on this thread was as well.NeptuneSpear wrote:Hi,

Took about a week for me as well but I think they give out decisions in waves so don't count on anything till you see movement heremaroon175 wrote:I was admitted exactly a week after my interview. I think someone else on this thread was as well.NeptuneSpear wrote:Hi,
