Looks like it's been s tough few days here. Hopefully next week will bring more good news!

Anybody know how difficult is it to get in-state status after 1L year for someone who was never in Michigan prior to that year?

I don't know from experience, but this would imply it would be rather difficult

I don't know of anyone who's been able to do this. I had some trouble even though my parents had lived in Michigan for 6 years before I started law school here. Also, it's unfortunately only a difference of about $1500 per semester between in-state and out-of-state.

I emailed back with updated application materials saying something along the lines of, "I'm still very interested": if that counts as a LOCI.

Dinged via SC this morning (or maybe over the weekend). On to the next! Congratulations to all those in, and best of luck to those riding out the wait list!

Is there a pattern with how many date changes (not necessarily status changes) there are in the status checker before a decision is made?

Does anyone know how easy it is to negotiate scholarship $ from Michigan? They gave me a reasonable size scholarship already, but the email said Michigan would not compete with offers from other schools. Is this actually true, or is it just a way to discourage the practice?

Related question: would Michigan consider upping its offer if I have the same $ offer from UVA (or vice versa)?

does anybody have a strategy for negotiating from ZERO for Michigan? Or is it just a hopeless cause? I have some good money from regionals so far, but nothing in the T14. Also, waiting on hopefully a better Feb LSAT score that might be a boost. But it seems weird to ask for money starting from nothing.

For those of you admitted via the status checker, do they send a follow up email or do you just have to wait for the acceptance letter to arrive in the mail?

They send a follow up email but not until after your stuff has been sent. It's to make sure that you know you've been accepted in case your mail somehow got lost and you hadn't heard about your acceptance.

Ahh - thanks! After my brain calmed down a little bit I also remembered I could try the admitted students website to double check.

Apologies if this has been posted before, but does anyone have any insight into how much the waitlist moves? And how late in the cycle if so? Waitlisted last week. :|

Factors outside first-response admissions outcomes are not documented very carefully, but you can take a look at this thread for a general idea:
