Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
I was all for remaining on hold...but then I saw I had to write an essay...now I'm considering just withdrawing

I have to think so many of you guys were held so they could comply with their 10-week decision deadline rather than move it back a third time. I'm sure a lot of you will still get in.

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
While this could be possible, I think part of the difference between what LSN shows and what happened is because it's unclear whether this should be reported as a WL or pending on LSN since it's not technically a WL yet. I reported it as a WL because I think that'll improve the accuracy of the future data even if the ultimate decision could still have been different. But it would seem totally reasonable and accurate to report it as pending and withdrawn. Anyone who does that won't show up when searching on Mylsn.pamphleteer wrote:I have to think so many of you guys were held so they could comply with their 10-week decision deadline rather than move it back a third time. I don't care enough to look through previous threads, but unless it's new this year that they're holding so many above-75ths candidates, part of the difference between what LSN/Mylsn shows and what's actually happening could be from the technically-not-waitlist aspect. I imagine many people with better offers choose to withdraw rather than writing essays/LOCIs and waiting until what seems like it'll be May.

Seriously. "We missed our deadlines and are too lazy/incompetent to give people a real answer after they put in money plus effort into an application and interview, so we're going to take the easy road out PLUS give you more groveling to do so that we can pad our USNews numbers." Pretty embarassing stuff.arewevoting wrote:these essay prompts are absolutely ridiculous. yeah, make me write/obsess over another essay for you to ignore and just reject me. unbelievable
Ok, I'm done with this thread and ranting about Northwestern, good luck to those of you still hoping to get in.

I applied to NU as a sort of afterthought, so much later than all other applications. Future doesn't look so bright.. sorry that they're treating some really great numbers/applicants this way.

Seems like most people put on hold today had great numbers. Besides the theory of abiding to their 10 week timeline, any thoughts on whether this is a massive move for YP?

Seems like there was a massive hold wave in early February of last year as well.

Anyone else was ignored in this brutal wave? Applied mid November. One date change in early January. Radio silence ever since.

Okay. So they failed to keep the “10-week” promise to us.svx5013 wrote:applied early Nov. One date change after the interview, another on 2/3Veronica2015 wrote:Anyone else was ignored in this brutal wave? Applied mid November. One date change in early January. Radio silence ever since.
NU is among my top choices. Would like to get in and see what scholarship offer they have for me. With that said, not very optimistic with my prospects given my KJD status. My numbers also are similar to a lot of "held" people.

Seems like it's up to us. Kind of feels like a "LOCI+" to me.Gray wrote:So do they expect us to answer all three essays, or one, or is it up to us?

Held, but don't worry, they don't "want to reject me outright."
I guess I can't complain considering some of you are held with better stats. I'm above 75% on GPA but at 25% LSAT. I also have a masters degree and am completing my PhD from Cambridge.
Not that it matters, but I wrote a very personal addendum outlining my interest in NU as well.
Perhaps its my bitterness talking, but I hope NU loses all of its acceptances to better schools and they fall out of the top tier..... What an all around horrible experience.

True, and I'm monumentally grateful about that, please don't get me wrong! My reason for waiting is that I'm going to be moving a spouse with me when I start in the fall and I have to think about which cities will give him the best job prospects while I'm in school. I'd personally be happy in Ann Arbor or DC but I suppose I should amend my previous comment to say that I'm going to ride the WL of all T-14s in big cities, for his sake.svx5013 wrote:you already got GULC & Michigan...mindthegap wrote:I'm really not feeling any of these essay prompts. Placed on hold last night. No status checker updates since 11/15 so I sort of expected a rejection. Looks like I've got some essays to write.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
