An update to your application is fine. I always encourage sending a Why UVA if you didn't with your application and haven't heard back. Also encourage sending in substantive updates whenever possible. A LOCI is a different animal, and only makes sense if the adcomms don't already assume that your interest is still present.NoDayButToday wrote:RCO2012 wrote:Only appropriate after being waitlisted. I mean, if you didn't submit a Why UVA, I could see it being alright...but be extremely brief and if possible combine it with a substantive update (promotion, fall semester grades, etc.)

Yes, email attachment to the general admissions email address. I don't think how you refer to it will have any significant impact, but I lean on the side of using as few acronyms as possible when communicating with admissions. I think I titled mine Why the University of Virginia School of Law in my application. You could just call it Why the University of Virginia. Like I said, probably no significant impact either way.BerkeleyMan5 wrote:I just wrote my why UVA--I submitted early January. I'm guessing it would be best to send it as an email attachment, rather than the actual text of an email?NoDayButToday wrote:An update to your application is fine. Also, would it be appropriate to simply refer to it as a "Why UVA" essay in the actual email body?
Sorry for all the questions. TIA!

I applied mid-September and just received an interview invitation a little over a week ago. I'm sure your interview invitations are coming soon.

For those who've received interview requests, did you write a Why UVA?

In. I can't even believe it.
Complete 11/5, Stats at both 75ths.
Here's the weird part: no interview. No phone at all. Just an email, (I don't want to out myself so I'll paraphrase) very casually saying that I'm now an admitted student of UVA Law. I did include "Why UVA" in my personal statement, but the no interview part seems unprecedented this cycle and really took me off guard

Congrats! I'm somewhat surprised you weren't YP'd. Are you in state (PM if you don't want to say publicly)?rule615 wrote:In. I can't even believe it.

I had my Skype interview this morning - it was a great, comfortable conversation.

Checking in late (LSAC-complete two weeks ago). 168/3.9x, not very confident given some of the data points ITT. I did write a Why UVA and I have some WE, so perhaps that will help.
