Re: BC 2012-2013 Applicants
alright cool thanks for the information. i've been sending mine to admissions at the other schools ive been admitted to, working up the ladder. Fordham increased my scholly with no problem, hopefully BC will be as accommodatingPinkLotus wrote:I sent mine directly to the Dean of Admissions. Realllly quick turnaround.kaf5250 wrote:I sent an email a few days ago and nothing at all backszb5058 wrote:has anyone successfully negotiated with BC??
if so, did you email their financial aid office, or a specific faculty member?but I sent it to the dean who signed my original offer letter because I figured it would get forwarded to her anyways. My plan is to wait it out a little and send a follow-up a little more than a week before the first deposit deadline basically saying I can't put down a non-refundable deposit without more money haha heres to hoping !

No one has had a quick turn around with scholarships. We haven't even heard back at all...

I meant this year haha. I imagine by April they would be very responsive but right now I think they are so far behind and trying to catch up.PinkLotus wrote:I sent my scholly request on 4/15, heard back on 4/20. I would never do it myself, but fine by me. In some cultures, parents are heavily involved in their children's lives farrrr into adulthood.BCLS wrote:it made me laugh :d.md22 wrote:lol wutBCLS wrote:i saw some parents attending a law school class with some newly admitted BC students- ouch.

there were several parents at the ASD i attended. i didnt think it was that weird. i mean, its definitely helicopter parent-ey for sure, but i brought my fiance and i can understand why some would bring their parents especially if they're footing the bill.PinkLotus wrote:I would never do it myself, but fine by me. It's embarrassing. You will be laughed at if you attend a class with your parents.

Re: BC 2012-2013 Applicants
^^at most ASD's yes, but BC is extremely family friendly. That is part of what makes it BC. For parent's weekend in undergrad, for example, the parents are welcomed into the classrooms with their kids, whether that be a lecture hall or discussion section.
(Not saying that you should bring the 'rents to professional school, but just suggesting that is not out of place for them to visit campus.)

My parents wanted to join me in visiting schools and i put my foot down. I can't imagine them joining for ASW, that's worse. It's funny, mine were never really helicopter parents until I told them I wanted to go to law school. PinkLotus, I feel ya on the wrath of ethnic parenting!

The actual class Alan. When I was a 1L a 0L actually had the balls to raise his hand and ask a question during our class. Wtf is wrong with people.
Nothing wrong with bringing parents to ASD. It's the class that's funny
