I feel similarly about TLS hype causing me to back off my first choice. What did you decide to do?jbagelboy wrote:Withdrew from UCLA via SIR website.
I hope it lets one of you recent waitlists get admitted.
UCLA was my first law school acceptance ever. It felt very bizarre withdrawing. I remember getting Dean Schwartz's call like it was yesterday and thinking, wow, I'm actually going to law school.
TBH, if it weren't for TLS and all the debt/employment hype here, I may have even attended because I'm from SoCal and UCLA was my original goal when I was studying for the LSAT. Hopefully I won't regret this!

Thanks. Waiting to hear from other schools? What would be an example of a good reason?bruin91 wrote:No, not binding. Does anyone know if it is binding? I still have some negotiating to do. Also, is it too late to ask for an extension?

Waiting to hear argument won't work... Seems too open-ended. Are you seriously considering UCLA? If you are, and you can portray that, obviously, an extension would be more likely.thatgumyoulike wrote:Thanks. Waiting to hear from other schools? I get that. I am, but if that were the case by itself, wouldn't they expect me to deposit now?bruin91 wrote:Waiting to hear argument won't work... Seems too open-ended. Withdrew as well. Wanted to stay in SoCal so, so badly but ill brave the winters elsewhere for three years and hope the employment outcome difference works in my favor.

Definitely not including the waitlist. That end of the month deadline is for people who haven't heard anything. The point of a waitlist is so that schools can fill empty seats in the summer. In other words, if you're waitlisted, you'll likely hear sometime in the summer, aka after the first seat deposit deadline of May 1st.onionskin wrote:All including waitlist?leximex21 wrote:Soooo the admissions office told me all decisions will be made by the end of the month, which is Tuesday...

Call from the Dean early this afternoon (Saturday) telling me I was admitted. Went complete at the end of Dec and am a reverse splitter. There's hope!

Thank you! I haven't decided. I am still waiting to hear back from a school, and I amazingly got in to Penn. I've lived in Los Angeles for 3 years and love it. I would be very sorry to move.bruin91 wrote:Congratulations!!!! You coming for sure?mk87 wrote:Call from the Dean early this afternoon (Saturday) telling me I was admitted. Just got on the waitlist!! Of course now I'm soo conflicted! UCLA was my top choice, but my next choice, University of Arizona, has already accepted me with a half scholarship. What do I do?? aaagh.

WL today too via email. It actually was very nicely done. SoCal native (but NorCal resident) and would love to be closer to home.
All you folks on the fence--drop out so that I can attend UCLA!

I haven't heard anything from UCLA since I submitted, but I don't even care anymore because I committed to USC last week. Anyone looking for a roomie? I'm not from the area & I want to live closer to UCLA than USC (maybe Culver City area near the expo line)

Waitlisted today via email as well. The email said decisions would begin being made post the May 1 deadline and again after the June deadline. Think that could possibly mean decision turnarounds of less than a week? Being that May 1 is Wednesday?

Rejected. Seriously, UCLA? Complete since late November and it takes this long for a rejection? F*ck you.
