How long do you think it takes for a VCE to make it from NYC to DC? I logged in via ASW but I can't trust it until I open the mail... Anyone outside NYC get a VCE today?

Dont mean to be a downer but Im pretty sure access to admitted students website was given long before they even started mailing out envelopes. Access to the website was probably granted when they made a decision on you. They have just started mailing them out, but Im sure they made a decision on most of us months ago.
That's just the way I see it...

Yep, you are probably in.acadec wrote:I'm actually genuinely asking...I skipped the last few pages out of excitement, and want to be absolutely sure before I start celebrating.JustE wrote:I LOL'd.acadec wrote:Wait, so if I enter my info on that website and hit "next," and two radio buttons come up that say "I hereby accept Columbia's offer of admission," and "I shall not be accepting Columbia's offer of admission and hereby relinquish my place at Columbia Law School. ETA: I keep imagining your face looked like your 'tar when you signed in.
Those of us that aren't in yet don't see those choices, only an error on the page that asks for our information. Congrats!

I dunno if they add you when they make a decision on you, but I think they do so before VCEs go out.Dani.B wrote:Dont mean to be a downer but Im pretty sure access to admitted students website was given long before they even started mailing out envelopes. Anyway...I think this means you're either dinged or waitlisted, not 100% dinged.

See I disagree here. I would think the priority would be getting the decisions made/sent. The ASW is set up so anyone can access it. The pressure to get the enrollment section up to date shouldn't be that high as most people aren't going to be sending seat deposits in/confirming enrollment right when they get their envelope. Or before scholarship/FA info has been released for any of the T6 for that matter. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but with CNBP acceptances in hand I am not giving up on CU after one day of admits.

Good luck everyone!

Congrats on the acceptances everyone! I just checked the admitted students site and couldn't log in, but I submitted in early December so I don't know if I should be worried or not.
Does Columbia typically admit students by submission date?
Also, for anyone who's been following the thread, is this the first wave of RD admissions?

Anyone know if Columbia does holds? Or if you applied early and didn't get in during the first batch, you're out?

Ok so I can sign in and get the enrollment options so according to this thread I'm probably in. However, I'm not really a stellar candidate for Columbia. I really feel it unlikely I was accepted. Is it possible to have the enrollment options but still be a ding???
Not trying to beat myself up but I am a statisticsl ding and my PS/softs are good but.... Come on! Could I seriously be in?

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Really regretting posting that pic now.
Guys: there are so many insanely well-qualified people who are probably just a few days shy of hearing that they're in.
Intelligent people are very adept at drawing inferences and noticing patterns. This can unnecessarily wreak havoc on the sanity of people who monitor these sites. Anecdotally I was the only person on TLS who reported a UR from UChi and Northwestern on a certain day, and my UR dates were supposedly a death sentence at Penn. I was positive I would get dinged at all three. I got into all three, on the first day that Chi released decisions and very delayed for Northwestern, with an atypical admittance date to Penn. Please, please, please retain hope and don't give in to your neuroses.
We have a YLS admit and several HLS and Stanford admits not yet in; we have crazy qualified URMs who haven't heard back; WhiteGuy5 will probably get in, but if not has an insanely compelling LOCI waiting if he doesn't get in; there are people with far better numbers than me who haven't yet heard.
I am not the person who hangs out on these boards and tells the ultra-splitters and the nice but numerically marginal people that "you're definitely in!", so please don't think I'm just offering super-happy-for-the-board-love-and-I-just-got-into-the-school-so-I'll-say-nice-things bullshit support. In this case it really is foolish to lose hope so early. I really think the earliest admits were arbitrarily selected, and people who have already given up hope will be hearing great news soon.
I can't wait to be proven right.
