I saw someone on LSN who got a JR1 email today
Who? Unless I'm reading the below link incorrectly, no applicants have updated today.

I think this means he/she had the actual interview today--not the email.

When do dings/rejections come out in January? Also, is it appropriate to write a LOCI after you've been "held" (praying) and before being waitlisted?

yeah but when would he have been notified? There's a chance that I'm forgetting some people, but I can't think of anyone here who scheduled a JR1 for this week (I know this thread isn't representative, but there seems to have been pretty good representation for prior JR1s) -- everyone I can recall had a JR1 last week or so and then got a JR2 yesterday. I could totally be wrong though

ETA: I'm illiterate, just saw someone who got a JR1 request Friday. Just kidding about everything I said.

So there's no chance of a JR1 before a hold if we don't hear before Christmas?

Can someone clarify the difference between hold and waitlist?

When you get held they keep you in the applicant pool and consider you later on in the admissions process (i.e. when they get more applicants and have a better sense of what the total pool will look like). It means you haven't wow'ed them enough to get in immediately, but they're at least willing to give you a shot against the people who will apply closer to the deadline. You get a real decision sometime between February and April: admit, waitlist, or deny.

The waitlist is much worse. They start accepting people off the waitlist if it looks like they can't fill the class with those who have already been admitted. Once you've been waitlisted, your chances aren't great.

Did anyone from the latest JR2 batch get the packet in the mail? Just want to know if there's something fun in the mailbox and if I should rush home. . . .

My numbers are GPA 4.0+ and LSAT 173.

I applied mid-November, was status checker complete by the end of November, and had my JR1 12/07.

I did not receive a JR2 on 12/20. It seems like others who applied around the same time with similar numbers have already gotten in. Is this a sign that I am likely to be held or waitlisted? As far as I can tell my JR1 went okay, not fantastic or terrible...

I'm in a similar situation, with a slightly more recent JR1 but longer review time. I'm disappointed I didn't get a call this week, but I think the fact that we had a JR1 in December still bodes well. For whatever reason, some people have larger gaps between their JRs, so I wouldn't assume anything at this point.

Well, us three have very similar numbers. They haven't accepted a ton of people in our range yet, so my guess is they're waiting to see what more applicants look like, as our numbers are competitive but not auto-admit.

Is it weird to get your complete email over 10 days after your application has been under review (per the status checker website)?

Not at all. I think this has happened to almost everyone.

Hey guys, question for anyone who might know:

Had my JR2 on Monday, and JR said that I'd be receiving some packets in the mail shortly. Anyone know when that might be/an official acceptance letter comes?

Incidentally, a quick check on LSN shows 43 non-URM admits with a 173 or less last year. There's only been 11 so far this year. With less people taking the LSAT this time around, the number of 173- admits likely has a ways to go.

Doesn't look like it... and I'm assuming they're closed until after New Year's.
