I'm 11/1 here. Berkeley is known as one of the most holistic law admissions offices, so it's no real surprise that our apps are taking so long. My numbers are not auto-admit for Berkeley, so I'm hoping that they take as much time as they need with my app!

If this is true, yes. No longer crossing for HYS? :)

However, I am OOS and a splitter (3.49/172), and I understand Berkeley doesn't like splitters. In fact, from what I can tell, I am almost absolutely an auto-ding. Does anyone think that sending in a supplementary Why Berkeley letter at this point would help? I submitted my application about a month ago. And if so, does anyone have any suggestions for that? I want to work on the west coast practicing environmental law, so Berkeley really is perfect for me. If only I was perfect for them...
I was an OOS splitter, and I got the Berkeley love (and gave it back by attending). I'm a big proponent of telling the admissions office exactly where you stand - if you would truly take their offer above all others, then tell them that. It doesn't have to be a big diatribe about the state of the union (especially since it sounds like you've already applied). It cannot hurt to send them a nice, quick <1 page note about why you think so highly of the school and the critical piece of information: you'd immediately accept the offer if admitted. And if you think you're an auto-ding (I'm not sure why you think so) it really can't hurt.

Good luck!

edit: awkward phrasing
Interesting. I might just do that. It is actually my top choice. I am concerned about money, though. Would being so blunt preclude me from aid? I'd be grateful just to get in, but their tuition is also terrifying...

I went and visited Berkeley last week... There were no students or anything, but I did not fall in love like I expected to..=/ There were move than 10 homeless people roaming around and flyers with naked women on them strewed around the campus =(

..if I get admitted (big IF of course), ASW will be important for me to go to!

I am visiting this week. This doesn't sound too swell. My wife will have a lot of input on this, so maybe she won't be too impressed.
