nothing yet except a request for Fall grades- semester ends on Friday and grades are due the 22nd. I am not sure when CLS adcomms go on break :/

honestly, if I get an NYU acceptance between now and getting my grades, I am just going to have CLS consider me for RD.

why? this is akin to asking them to reject you.

I don't think it is. If I apply ED and they don't give me a decision until January, I feel I have the right to entertain other offers. It s a little frustrating, especially when people with lower index scores, lower GPAs, and lower LSATs have received their decisions when they were supposed to. Don't get em wrong, I am very happy for them. However, much of the benefit of applying ED is being eroded. If I have an acceptance from NYU then ED at CLS is simply not worth it anymore. The negligible difference between NYU and CLS is not worth me forgoing comparing FinAid offers.

However, I may not accepted to NYU either. so it is all speculation at this point.

I'm just saying that if you ask to be considered RD instead of ED, many people believe that significantly lowers your chance of getting in at all, much less with money. So if you are willing to go to NYU over CLS and think you might get money there, then sure, ask to be considered RD. But don't expect to then get into CLS.

and COMPLETELY understandably so. But I wouldn't let this frustration get in the way of potentially being accepted, even if it is ED, even if it is later then you wanted.

Deferred. They were nice enough to e-mail me the PDF. Well this sucks, I was expecting it so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but still. I guess I better work on my LOCI and send a letter of recommendation along with it.

Damn, sorry to hear that. At least you know where you stand, which is more than at least a dozen other people ITT can say.

Yeah true, just not the best way to wake up or to start the cycle. Like my friend said deferred is better than rejected but we all know the odds of turning a deferral into an acceptance. Ok off to a great day at work :?

Deferred, snail mail. Have been primed for my rejection since I received my LSAT scores, so this kind of feels like a win for me. 166, 3.8. Quick question -- a deferral means that I should NOT send a LOCI, right? I just let them "reconsider [my] candidacy for admission, without prejudice and with continuing recognition of [my] special interest in Columbia Law School, in late March?"

Also, good luck to everyone else in this ED cycle!!!!

hey, sorry about the news. I don't think a loci would hurt, but i'd probably hold off for around a month before sending one.

when was your letter postmarked?

Thanks for the advice. You're right -- maybe I'll send something out in late January.

Postmarked on December 11th, and I live in Queens, so it didn't have to go far.

Still a dozen of us EDers left ITT; I'd imagine they made some more decisions on Monday and it'll take another day or two for the mail to arrive.

Yeah, I've already decided to not check my snail-mail for about 2 weeks unless I spy a purple envelope in there from a distance. Nothing else good can come from that dreaded mail box at this point, and I need that acceptance from NYU to assuage my CLS despair.

sorry if this was already answered, but for people that have received letters in the mail, was it sent to your "present address" or your "permanent address"? Winter break is coming up so I won't be at my "present address" for what appears will be a very stressful month, if the letters go there

Don't know if this will help you since I am abroad and they PDF'd it to me, but the address at the top is my abroad address i.e. my present address. I assume they will use this one if their decision is within the 'this address is valid through' dates

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
