Re: University of Florida
UF has been absolutely brutal this year...almost as brutal as having to talk to their law school secretary

I really hope lightning strikes twice in the same place and I am accepted in the 3/24 batch; what a fairy-tale it would be for me.

Re: University of Florida
So, most recently UF has sent WL’s and rejections. Does anyone think the next logical move would be to send the acceptances in the 3/24 batch? Anyone have a crystal ball?

I thought I would have some news to give you all, since I was a part of the DIT 3/24 group and live in Gville, but I just checked my mail and didn't get anything from UF (or anything at all, for that matter). I assume my decision will come tomorrow.

Re: University of Florida
I'm still 'Under review by committee' but the end is near.
I assume with UF rejecting traditionally qualified applicants they really are trying to reach a class size of 300? I'm curious if:
1) This will have any bearing on rankings (MAYBE the medians, plus student/faculty ratio)
2) FSU will now become more competitive. They typically have a class size of 190-210, so if the majority of FL residents that would have attended UF in previous cycles want to pay in-state tuition, FSU now becomes gold compared to the rest of the state.
3) UF would let Tebow into the law school without taking the LSAT.

1) It just might...that's probably one of the reasons why they did itmilogoestolawschool wrote:I'm still 'Under review by committee' but the end is near.

Re: University of Florida
I just got my rejection letter today. DiT 3/23.
I'm disappointed that my alma mater did me this way. I don't believe that the disappointment stems from the actual rejection, but from the way I was rejected. This can be such an agonizing process, waiting to hear from these schools. Why not put us on some sort of waitlist or reject us right away? If I hadn't come on this board, I would have thought all this time that I had a chance. Oh well, I'm not going to be bitter. Bitterness is not cute.
Then again, this might be a blessing in disguise. I have been sorta/kinda/slightly wanting to get out of Florida, even though I grew up in South Florida and had enough trouble adjusting to Gainesville. I have a few more schools to hear from and then I have a tough decision to make. Hopefully it'll all work out for the best for all of us:)

That's ridiculous! Did you apply late? For an in-state applicant I would think you'd be in or at least a waitlist.jennalc wrote:161/3.52 florida resident, decent softs... rejected in the 3/22 batch. i was at least expecting a waitlist.

Re: University of Florida
Rejected, DiT 3/23.
167, 3.0, Florida resident and in-state undergrad, 4 years great work experience, blah blah I'm an awesome person
...but oh well. First rejection, and kind of upsetting, even though with my GPA I can't really be surprised. I'm disappointed that I don't have the option to go there, for purely financial reasons, but like lola, I really want to leave Florida so it's probably for the best anyway.

Re: University of Florida
I heard from someone really high up at the law school that the reason they moved from 400 to 300 spots is to move up in the rankings/decrease class sizes. The official reason is because of the budget, but according to who I heard from, they could have opened up 400 spots if they really wanted to. Anyways, apparently a lot of children of alumni were dinged, and the dean has had a lot of nasty phone calls.

(2) I have heard they are eliminating a 1L section, so unlikely.
(3) If they play the connection card and still can't get in with their scores, f**k 'em.
I emailed financial aid asking about a scholarship posted online and in printed material, and was informed that it had been discontinued due to lack of funds. Every department has been asked to cut back by 10%, so the budget seems like and "official" and an official reason.

Re: University of Florida
Just got the rejection letter. That's alright. It's their loss. They are rejecting a lot of good applicants this semester, and I hope it backfires. I've done my undergrad at Miami anyways, so I'm a Cane. I'll move on to the other schools I applied, and good luck to everyone else!

Re: University of Florida
got rejected today. 162/3.33 in state. what the hell? not even waitlisted. thought I had a pretty good chance of getting in despite my gpa...oops! florida was the only school I applied to so I guess I won't be going to law school this year. dissapointing. seems like most people they are accepting have really high numbers and are unlikely to attend...or do you really need a 163/164/165 to get into uf these days?

So, I live in Gville, went DIT on 3/24, and yet I still didn't get my UF decision today...
I'm starting to think that the mailman is holding out on me...
