For all the Non-PT applicants under review: when was your application complete? Also, is anyone here applying ED?

For everyone who's accepted, do you have any idea when you'll hear about scholly info?

Won't get forms until December. Then likely not until jan/febslizerd wrote:For everyone who's accepted, do you have any idea when you'll hear about scholly info?

I know there were a couple people who said they had only gone UR1 by day 9 and then got priority reserve - are there others that only had one UR date and still got accepted, or is that a pretty good indicator of the reserve list?

At the risk of asking a question which has already been answered, is PT the same as ED?

No worries! They're totally different, PT is non-binding and guarantees you an answer within 10 days. Also, the only way to apply PT is to receive an invitation.jwwoodma wrote:At the risk of asking a question which has already been answered, is PT the same as ED?

Your political views really won't matter, and I doubt adcomms would infer them from having spoken to X duke alumnus.slizerd wrote:Question about a Why Duke essay:
The president of the university I'm attending now went to Duke, and was/is a pretty prolific figure. He's pretty staunchly republican and I'm really democratic, but I still respect that he's an impressive guy. He's talked about his love for Duke at length during public forums here; it's one of the (many) reasons I started looking into Duke.
Do you think it would be ok to mention this in my why x essay, or would they look at the guy's name and be like "ahhh this applicant must be super conservative, they mentioned ___ _____, they won't fit in here"
Maybe I'm being paranoid. Advice is appreciated!

There were a few folks prior to the deletion of posts that got admitted with one UR date.cub1014 wrote:I'm interested in this as well.texasellewoods wrote:I know there were a couple people who said they had only gone UR1 by day 9 and then got priority reserve - are there others that only had one UR date and still got accepted, or is that a pretty good indicator of the reserve list?

OK, thanks. I've been scrambling for things to put into a why duke.OhBoyOhBortles wrote:Your political views really won't matter, and I doubt adcomms would infer them from having spoken to X duke alumnus.slizerd wrote:Question about a Why Duke essay:

For people who applied via PT... how long did you have to wait between seeing "Decision Made" and actually receiving the e-mail with your decision?? Thanks!

I received the email around 30 minutes after the status checker changed to "decision made; watch for email."calisally77 wrote:For people who applied via PT... how long did you have to wait between seeing "Decision Made" and actually receiving the e-mail with your decision?? Thanks!

I actually had to wait overnight, so don't stress if it doesn't come right away!calisally77 wrote:For people who applied via PT... how long did you have to wait between seeing "Decision Made" and actually receiving the e-mail with your decision?? Thanks!

I waited awhile for my email too. Also, pretty sure it came on day 11, but I'm not sure when they officially start counting/ if weekends count. Mine never changed from UR1.

It's day 5 for me and I just went to UR2, which judging from what I've seen on this thread seems quite fast. Do you think this is a bad thing- i.e. they know quickly that they don't want to admit me?

Not sure. I'm at day 8 but I'm still ur1. I'm a reverse splitter though so I'm not sure how to judge it. Isn't ur2 considered a good thing?Applesauce11 wrote:It's day 5 for me and I just went to UR2, which judging from what I've seen on this thread seems quite fast. My guess, (and this is a complete guess) that if it goes ur a second time it is reviewed by a different person or committee?

I don't know- it seems to me that admissions would take more time to look at good applications than unimpressive ones. I'm a regular splitter for more information.cub1014 wrote:Not sure. Hahaha no you should not worry about this. I went UR2 three days after going complete and I got in (still on 10th day though). I definitely do not believe that having an early UR2 thing is a bad sign.Applesauce11 wrote:It's day 5 for me and I just went to UR2, which judging from what I've seen on this thread seems quite fast.
