This is just anecdotal, but based on LSN, splitters seem to be getting good money this year. Hope they aren't just outliers.
That's interesting, seeing as how UVA was brutal with splitter money last year.

I'm curious about this too. Unfortunately most of my money has come from schools that aren't on the East Coast (USC, WUSTL, etc.) and I'm not sure that it'll help on the UVA front.rkspurs21 wrote:$0 here, but not surprised. I got about 3/4 of tuition at GW and more than 90% at William and Mary covered, think they'd budge on negotiations? I'm sure they don't consider them peer schools, but it can't hurt to try. Could really use a rich uncle right about now...

I received the email today as well. Admitted in November, submitted the FAFSA in mid-February. The financial aid page contains the scholarship that I was notified of previously and shows loans to cover the remaining cost of attendance. Feel super blessed to have received a scholarship to attend my dream school. It is still a bit overwhelming to see though that even after a pretty substantial scholarship, the loan amounts are over $45K for a single year. Fortunate to have worked a few years between undergrad and law school and have some savings to mitigate the debt burden, but still the cost of attendance is pretty overwhelming to think about after seeing the loan amount offered.

This is how I feel as well. Admitted late February, submitted my FAFSA about a week ago (received the email today). I was very fortunate to receive a scholarship but seeing the loan amount finally made the matter of debt real for me. Luckily I have very minimal undergrad debt and my family will be helping out some but it's hard for me to even think in these figures.thatsnotmyname wrote:I received the email today as well. Submitted in mid-November, at median LSAT and around 75% for GPA, wrote a Why UVA, still haven't heard a peep. Kinda surprised, to be honest.

Does everyone have to submit Need Access, or is that only if we want to be considered for need-based grants?

Hmm that's very strange...I submitted both the fafsa and need access the day they became available and didn't receive any email. Now I'm worriedcommandercup wrote:I was admitted early Feb. and got the email today. Did anyone get any type of need based aid or just any types of grants in general? Or is the consensus loans and then merit scholarship (if awarded one).

Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
It does seem that way. Which is odd, since, at least according to LSN, plenty of folks with comparable numbers were given Dillards. Not that I'm complaining; I don't think I'm a particularly stellar applicant. It's just a funny process, I guess.hereisonehand wrote:lots of us in this boat. boat is so full in fact it may sink soon.shrubgeorge wrote:Submitted in mid-November, at median LSAT and around 75% for GPA, wrote a Why UVA, still haven't heard a peep. Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Hey everyone, lurker here. Are we 100% sure that this email with the login information means we're not getting ANY aid at all? I find that hard to believe. I for one haven't even received my acceptance packet yet. I got the email mentioned above and logged in (it doesn't look like i'm getting anything as of today) but I also just got in yesterday. I know that at least one other school took a little while to evaluate my Need Access form before awarding me a LITTLE need-based aid (I'm still waiting on Merit aid which they've said to expect in the next few weeks).
All I'm saying is don't give up hope. I think i'll get some need-based aid from UVA since the other school gave me some. I wouldn't despair just yet...
Also other people with numbers like mine have gotten money, so yeah.

It's worth keeping in mind the likelihood that women are getting significantly more scholarship money than men, to make up for a gender imbalance in last year's class. Add in other soft factors -- they are trying to create a balanced and diverse class, and offering money is how they get those candidates to attend. If you're just comparing numbers you aren't getting the full picture.

I didn't receive any need based money or loan information (I only just finished these applications over the weekend).nguzman wrote:Did anyone get any type of need based aid or just any types of grants in general? Or is the consensus loans and then merit scholarship (if awarded one).
Hopefully there will be some need aid in the future, but the fact that they would issue this letter with only the merit scholarship info, knowing that I hadn't yet given them the info they needed to make a need grant, says to me "need aid" doesn't really mean anything at UVa and no one should be holding their breath waiting for any.

What proportion of people are admitted without an interview? Any of you offered admission without it?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
