Just a quick update for the "I could get a password for the ASW but couldn't log in" group: Got my admit letter today along w/ a very nice personal note from the Dean. So, looks like it wasn't a glitch. If you can get that ASW password, you're in.

Congrats, and thanks that's helpful. I was one of the password/not being able to log in, just got acceptance letter today. Last status update 1/13, and I live on the west coast.

I tried it for the first time around 6 PM, but I have no idea if it would have worked earlier. If you had a status update today but can't log in, I would recommend waiting until your next status update. I imagine you'd be able to get a username/password at the same time as they admit you/update your status checker.Dominican_Lawyer wrote:Hey just wondering when during the day everyone who was able to do the password thing suceeded... just to see if/when during the day i can stop trying.

I have another question and sorry I know its somewhere on this thread but is there a UR status for Georgetown or does is simply go from Application complete (where I am as of 1/7) to a decision?

It will say "Application Completed" until they make a decision (and even after that). The date will probably change, though.Dominican_Lawyer wrote:TY for the response.SplitMyPants wrote:Mine was around 10am.Dominican_Lawyer wrote:Hey just wondering when during the day everyone who was able to do the password thing suceeded... just to see if/when during the day i can stop trying.

I had an original complete with a date. A new complete with the date of my interview request. A new complete the day my interviewer submitted the form. And the last new complete the day I was able to request a password successfully.Dominican_Lawyer wrote:TY for the response.SplitMyPants wrote:Mine was around 10am.Dominican_Lawyer wrote:Hey just wondering when during the day everyone who was able to do the password thing suceeded... just to see if/when during the day i can stop trying.

Neither
After all the junk inspecting conversation, the only thing I could see when reading "touche" was "touched" with the last letter missing, so I supplied it.
Bad joke, sorry
Philly would have gotten it.... *sigh*

Does anyone have any information about whether it is possible to transfer between part time and full time status after acceptance but before matriculation? I applied to both programs (not yet accepted to either), and I am becoming a little nervous that if I were a part-time student, I would not have time to participate in journals, conduct research, etc. Hopefully, if I'm admitted, it will be full time and this will be wasted worry. Any info here would be helpful. My searches did not turn up anything useful.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
While I can't absolutely say one way or the other, this exact question did come up in my interview. My interviewer was telling me that she did exactly this--she went from the part-time to the full-time after acceptance but before matriculation, and then went back to the part-time program after a year.
Some caveats, though:
-She graduated in the early 80's, so things may have changed.
-it's possible that she just got lucky and they happened to need her numbers, or there was some other circumstance in which they deemed it prudent to allow her to do this even though they usually don't let people do this
-she only applied to the part time program (reason for switching was that she decided later to quit her job and focus on school), so it's possible that her numbers were competitive for the full-time program. If you apply to both and only get into the part-time program, I don't know how much they'd be interested in letting you into a program you were literally JUST rejected from (not that this will happen to you
I'm sure you'll get into the full time program!)
p.s. This is a totally valid question to call the office about, but I totally get why you'd check and see if anyone knows for sure first. I'm not trying to be one of those kind of brusque people who might be upset by someone posting a question with an easily accessible answer (you know... "search function, you A-hole
"). Rather, I'm anticipating that very few or zero people will know the answer, and trying to encourage you to call if you don't get what you're looking for here. I know calling the office can be intimidating, but this is a great question! I'd even be happy to call for you if you want, just PM me

Question for those of us that were able to successfully request an ASW username/password but not log in: Has anyone been able to log in yet? In the quote that sandwich found, it said that it normally takes four days for admits to access the website. That would be today (unless they meant after four days have passed.) Anyone have any luck yet? My mailman didn't even show up yesterday, so no letter for me yet.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
This used to be something you could do easily and many students did - transfer from PT to FT - but the policy changed in 2010. Now, you can only transfer if you have a very good reason to do so. There is a good discussion about this on last year's PT thread. Here is a link to read about the policy (page 10 under "Juris Doctor Program": http://www.law.georgetown.edu/campus-se ... /index.cfmkcdc1 wrote:Does anyone have any information about whether it is possible to transfer between part time and full time status after acceptance but before matriculation? And here is a little bit about it from the GULC website:
May I transfer to the full-time program?
Students will be permitted to transfer from the part-time to the full-time program only in cases of a demonstrated significant change in circumstances. Under the current policy, the ability to switch programs once you start is by no means guaranteed and is determined on a case-by-case basis. Please see the Georgetown Law Student Handbook for additional information.
