def think it just depends on who you get. i had a different interviewer (not Dean Perry) and we joked around quite a bit and such.

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I agree. She came to my school for an info session, and she didn't have a wide warm smile, but she seemed like an awesome person. She made cool sarcastic jokes, while keeping a serious impression, so I get how her personality might add to the nervousness of interviewees (including myself), but I don't think it means she didn't have a positive attitude. Anyway, I am REALLY hoping to get a decision, hopefully a positive one, this week!!!Regulus wrote:Yeah, I also had a non-Dean-Perry interviewer who was young and extremely pleasant to talk to. However, after I got admitted I called to ask a question and got put through to Dean Perry who did seem like a lot of people are describing on here (scary-ish). I think that is just her personality and wouldn't read anything into it for those of you who have/will interview(ed) with her.

Fwiw, Dean Perry is probably my favorite person at the law school. She is awesome.

I know it must be frustrating for you guys to be dealing with a new admissions process, but the interview process is intended to benefit the school and future classes of students. It is definitely a huge amount of extra work for the admissions staff. I know everyone just wants their decisions as quickly as possible, but keep in mind that Dean Perry is often doing 8 or 9 interviews a day in an effort to get them all done in a timely manner. Don't be surprised if she (or any of the other admissions staff) are a little low energy at times.

It depends on who you get, my interviewer was awesome. Also, greater than a 60% chance admit decisions go out this week?

While gunning for that fancy banner.Regulus wrote:I have a question about merit-based aid (concerning Chicago in particular) here if anyone can help. Same. She seemed pleasant to me. Remember to smile and relax a bit. You're doing yourself a favor by making your interviewer more at ease.orbotop wrote:yeah, im a little surprised at the posts here, i had dean perry and thought it was very pleasant conversation.2014 wrote:If anyone gets Dean Perry and feel she is apathetic show some personality and make her laugh. She has a solid sense of humor and that should get her back on your page.
I saw somewhere in the employment forum that "If you finished an interview without making them laugh, it could have gone better" and I see no reason why that wouldn't apply to an admissions interview too.

Does anyone have an idea of how many people actually interview?

I get the feeling that (somewhat similar to Harvard's admission interviews) not everyone who interviews will get in, but everyone who gets in will have been interviewed.grapefruits wrote:Does anyone have an idea of how many people actually interview?
I could be completely wrong though, so don't freak out if you haven't been invited to interview yet!

So..anybody got an idea what is meant by "mid-february"? Any hope for some Chi-town love this week?
Also, would we find out about scholarships when our letter comes, were we lucky enough to get in and be, err, picked for such things?

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
can someone help give ideas about the potential interview question of a time when you were out of your comfort zone or a time you felt awkward and how you resolved it?
i can't really think of anything, or at least anything that i feel would be appropriate

Some thoughts:learntolift wrote:can someone help give ideas about the potential interview question of a time when you were out of your comfort zone or a time you felt awkward and how you resolved it?

1. Time you were asked to do something you hadn't done before at work and you asked for help or figured it out
2. Volunteer work where you had to balance your desire to help with respect for the people you were working with as individuals, perhaps despite your own preconceptions
3. Experience where you had to determine what you brought to the table that would make you a good leadership candidate among your peers

Per Chicago's website:Emma. wrote:I get the feeling that (somewhat similar to Harvard's admission interviews) not everyone who interviews will get in, but everyone who gets in will have been interviewed.grapefruits wrote:Does anyone have an idea of how many people actually interview?
I could be completely wrong though, so don't freak out if you haven't been invited to interview yet!
"You should not read anything into whether you have been invited to interview. Some applicants will be admitted without an interview, and any outcome is possible after the interview. Being offered an interview does not mean that a candidate is guaranteed admission, nor does it mean that the Committee has questions about the applicant, or that the application is borderline."
What "some applicants" means is open to interpretation, but I thought I would at least share their official stance.

Solidly. Did a bit of mock interviewing with a friend yesterday. It made me feel more comfortable today. I think it helped me tighten up my answers to basic interview questions. All the questions were ones you should already be expecting.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
