Jen, I know you mentioned your friend commuting in from CT and i'm planning on doing the same. Do you have classes Mon - Fri? Just trying to see how much time/money I will be spendingJenDarby wrote:First day of classes should be 9/4 and mandatory week long orientation for 1Ls would start 8/27. You have an option for flex schedule (and pretty much everyone who wants it gets it), which would enable you to start classes late and end late if that's more convenient for you with the commute, with no Friday class.MsKhrystyna wrote:Jen, I know you mentioned your friend commuting in from CT and i'm planning on doing the same. First semester I had class: M (11-12:50), T (9-11, 11-12:30, 2-3:25), W (9:30-12:30), T (2-3:25), and F (9-1)
Second semester I have class: M (10:30-12:20, 2-3:50), T (9-10:50, 11:30-12:20), W (11-12:25), T (9-12:25, 4-4:45) and I had Friday class from 9-10:50 for the first 6 weeks.
While this is just MY schedule, it will give you a basic idea of the layout. They vary by section. My friend managed THIS schedule from CT with no problem. Unless you do flex schedule, you will have 1 (maybe 2) Friday classes for most the year.

This is great. I had no idea and I also have no idea what our ranking was last year. Fordham is a great school if you want to be in NY. T14 and such debates aside, I don't think rankings are that relevant below there. I truly wouldn't be any better off now taking more money at a higher ranked school outside the T14 (or the T whatever we're currently gauging prestige on).magicbunny wrote:Not wanting to be a ranking asshole nor it actually matters but... hey Fordham is ranked 29 this year!
P.S. I was never big on Fordham and applied here as an afterthought, a month or so after applying to other schools. I do not regret my decision to attend Fordham.

since we're talking about the rankings...drop to from 2nd to 5th place for the part time program behind Brooklyn and 'Dozo, whats up with that?

I'm no expert, or even an individual worthy of commentary regarding the part time program. That being said, nygrrl mentioned something about Fordham cutting down on their part time program to ensure its for part time, WORKING people rather than those simply attracted to the novelty of an evening program. I can see how this could lower the overall ranking of a part time program, just as the part time program lowered the overall ranking of Fordham as it grew. This is pure speculation based on what I have read on TLS as I know essentially nothing about the part time program. Hopefully some of the experts will grace us with their knowledge!magicbunny wrote:Really... that sounds bizarreFujin11 wrote:since we're talking about the rankings...drop to from 2nd to 5th place for the part time program behind Brooklyn and 'Dozo, whats up with that?

Re: Fordham c/o 2015/16 (2011-2012 Cycle)
I am in the PT program. I think the lowering of the ranking may be from Fordham's emphasis on real working people, and the migration of students to the day program after the first year. At those other schools I don't think people apply to evening program because of lower numbers as much as they do in Fordham. The amount of fake working people in my program pisses me off. I am a true evening student that works during the day and goes to the library after class. On my spring break I am not on some warm island, but I am still in the library catching up on reading. Also the visiting professors may have something to do with it also. I have two visiting professors and that kind of sucks with previous exams and outlines. Overall, I promise anyone on TLS a Fordham J.D will top a Dozo or BLS J.D 10/10. Sorry if that sounded DoucheyJenDarby wrote:I'm no expert, or even an individual worthy of commentary regarding the part time program. Regardless of the two T-14 schools in NYC Fordham is my first choice because they are military friendly. I will likely have to retake and sit out to get in next year but will still choose Fordham over higher rated schools if I have other options because I like it and think it would be a much better fit for me. I honestly don't care where it sits in the ratings.JenDarby wrote:This is great. I had no idea and I also have no idea what our ranking was last year. Fresh admits should actually read the stuff we get - consider if the first assignment.
I'm just waiting for the first "oops - I missed the deposit deadline" posts to roll around next month (which is nowhere near as bad as missing the financial aid deadline)
