Waitlisted. Shit. I really, really want to go to Fordham.
I guess it's LOCI time.
Anyone know if you can ask to be considered for the evening division if you've been waitlisted?

Now the evening division has been cut in half to only enroll people who are professionals to attend. It was unfair to have a 24 year old with no job to sit in the library for 10 hours going up against someone coming to class for their 9 to 5 job with minimal time to study during the day.H. E. Re: Fordham 2011
They cut the evening division from 150 or so to 80 because 70 students had no jobs and transferred after the first year. Last year, only four or five students ended up transferring to the day division after this cut.blacklawboss wrote:Now the evening division has been cut in half to only enroll people who are professionals to attend. OK, just a little clarification....youarereadingthis wrote:They cut the evening division from 150 or so to 80 because 70 students had no jobs and transferred after the first year. The program was indeed cut last year, but not because half of the class didn't have jobs. Those 70 seats were shifted into a new "hybrid" program: full course load, but classes in the afternoons and evenings (maybe mornings too but I don't THINK so - can check.) This was 2 fold: YES, the school wants to get the Evening Division back to its roots - back to being a program for professionals who work, during the day - but there were also USNWR reasons for the change.
As to transfers after the cut? Well... my class will be the first one to face that (the cut was made last spring, only going into effect this past fall!) and I know that at LEAST 75% of my sectionmates are planning to transfer...
And about those 24 year olds with no jobs? I should take a poll... playing it SAFE on this? 50% of the evening division does not work, during the day.
There are a few working students who get upset about this, but most of us don't care. I mean, yeah, it's harder when you're working 9-5, but we knew what we were signing on for, in terms of competition, when we started - and hey, LIFE isn't fair. Who ever told you that was lying to you.

How long did it take those of you who have heard back to hear? I'm going on 8 weeks since my first complete date and 3 weeks since my last update (I don't remember if it was my first or second one). I'm hoping they didn't forget me because Fordham is one of my top choices, I'd love to call or write a LOCI but I understand they are busy and if they just haven't gotten to me yet or are waiting to make a decision on me for some reason I'd hate to do anything to tip the scales against me, any thoughts?

I think I'm gonna walk in tomorrow and hand in everything: financial aid app, w-2's, tax returns, and my proof of citizenship. Hopefully, that works out for the best.
