You got a Fletcher! Definitely jealous, but good luck at UIUC none the less!

No, I did not get the Fletcher. I had a $28,000 regular scholarship, which was later upgraded to a full tuition scholarship by Melanie Nutt.

If it all works out financially, I will be heading to UIUC.

Wow...you go, Luis. I'm surprised at how short the application is for the Rose Scholarship. Are any of you going to be at the 26 March Open House?

Thanks
I applied on 2/28 and got mine towards the middle of last week.

Keg, I applied on the first day of apps, and I seem to recall getting my status checker around 10 Oct with acceptance e-mail on 22 Feb if that helps.

I know some of you (including myself) had some questions about the Rose Scholarship, so I thought I would share what I found out when I emailed them:
Dear XXX:

I understand that “strong financial need” is a rather loose term. Past recipients have demonstrated this need through their essays by describing their lower socio-economic background and the impact that this has on funding law school. Many of these applicants have no outside family members or resources to assist them in paying for their legal education. I do not think full time work necessarily disqualifies you for consideration for this scholarship. If you are working full time but have not accumulated assets or resources to fund your legal education AND you do not have others who could assist in this endeavor, you may still qualify for the funds. The bottom line is that the committee will be awarding these funds to the applicant who has the greatest potential for law school success and the greatest need.

If an applicant receives the Rose Scholarship, this funding is included within the merit scholarship which has been previously awarded. In other words, it is not awarded in addition to a merit scholarship.
Im bummed on a couple levels. First, it seems that because I was raised in a middle-class family, and have been working full-time for three years now, I wont be seriously considered. That while I have family members who could help with costs, they are not going to (understandably), but because they could, that counts against me.
And then it seems from the last sentence that those who already got scholarships will not be given consideration for the Rose scholarship.

status checker says decision letter pending and admissions deposit as well as tuition deposit at bottom say 0.00. Any body know if you can what the decision is based on this? Should I just man up and call the office if I want to know?

I've been in Admin Review since 2/16. I'm surprised it hasn't gone to Committee Review yet, or hasn't been DR.

Just submitted the rose scholarship application. I didn't discuss my lack of money in the essays though....hopefully they will just look at my fafsa.

Anyways, fingers crossed and hoping for a miracle.

I didn't get the ROse scholarship application so it might not be a mass e-mail. I applied about a month ago and am under review.

Maybe it was a mass email to all accepted candidates?

Woops sorry the waiting list email I had to reply to was for UGA, no reply needed for the WFU email but I do plan on writing a LOCI.

Called this morning and a very nice woman said that she could not say the "a" word (acceptance I'm assuming) but that good decisions would be sent out by the end of next week and I would be hearing from them by then. Hopefully that's good news for a few people!

Has anyone heard anything about scholarship awards since the email error debacle?

I know the apology email said there would be further awards made during the first week in April, but I sent a reply asking if that meant no awards would be made until then and didn't get a reply. Clearly people are withdrawing as we speak and money is being put back into the pot, but are they going to wait until after the April 1st commitment date before they award more money?

Just wondering if anyone had heard anything.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
