on my phone... Dallas is mainly a commuter city. If you want more for your money but not nec. cheaper look for housing along the north tx tollway corridor. If you want more and cheaper look towards I75 but be warned about traffic. Undergrad housing would put you at $1000 or less per month (includes groceries, bills, etc) but it will be more noisy, busy etc. For a nice 1 br apt close to campus you're looking at $1000 easily. A bit of a commute and the price drops. I would also look into some home rentals in highland park with a realtor. Sorry, but Dallas isn't hurting much in terms of housing and the economy. I'll fix typos later on real comp.tinyone wrote:Can anyone who lives in Dallas now give me a rough estimate on the total cost of bills per month for a 1 bed/bath? Electric, gas, TV/phone...the whole package? I'm just trying to figure out my max. rent.

I'm not sure how it would work in Dallas, but I know many of the nicer complexes down here in Austin often will include cable and internet. I know all the Jefferson (JPI) properties down here do and I know they have plenty of complexes in Dallastinyone wrote:leraa6587 wrote:on my phone... Dallas is mainly a commuter city. Sorry I need to clarify. I am looking at 1 bed/bath in Uptown. I already have several properties that I am considering and just need to know how much I should budget for gas, water, electric and TV/internet. So I am looking for feedback on the cost of bills only. I am guessing $250, but was hoping to get some feedback.

Oh that's great news! Thank you!nontradintexas wrote:Lots of Mac users here. In my class, probably close to 50%.
It's not an issue of SMU IT not working with Macs, it's that the exam software SMU uses does not support Mac yet. The exam software is from a third party vendor and you buy an annual license to download and use it. I can't remember exactly, but we received an email that they expect it to be Mac-friendly either fall 2010 or 2011.
Almost every Mac user I know just partitions part of their hard drive and uses Boot Camp to run Windows. From what I understand that works fairly well.
