Exactly my point: a box where everyone says "i'm a special snowflake and above average" doesn't really give insight at all. It's similar (albeit probably less extreme) to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E ... ger_effectEarlskies wrote:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Wobe ... gon_effectmrgstephe wrote:I consider my softs to be average, but I also think there are probably <5% of the applicants with similar credentials due to my specialized STEM background/WE. TBH I think that column is absolutely useless b/c everyone here (myself included) suffers from Dunning-Krueger.
I just wish that instead of just a drop down with 3 or 4 options, there was a box to list what makes your softs so 'above average'. It's really easy to click above average b/c we all want to feel like we're special, but when everyone says they're above average, it really doesn't add anything to the discussion and/or give insight to people with similar numbers.

Are we under the impression that UR date only changes when they process it to the next step?
I am assuming they got my updated LSAT score, but my last date change was 12/27 (obvi before Dec scores came out). Should I email asking if they got the new score, or just wait it out?

No. The dates change without any reason we know of sometimes. I have no idea why I'm UR2. I've been UR2 for almost two months. Lolmrgstephe wrote:Are we under the impression that UR date only changes when they process it to the next step?

So what are folks thinking for housing? Trying to decide if I want to spring for a 1BR or if I should split.

In today via status checker! Complete 12/14. Interview Request 1/16, Interview 1/18. Interview was surprisingly brief.
LSAT > 75, 25 < GPA < 50. Hope having another data point helps!

Is it too late to send a why UVA? I sent my apps in 11/24 and I've been sitting at UR1 since 12/2 but UVA is definitely one of my top choices.

Extremely curious now, you'll have to follow through!laqueredup wrote:Yeah "Highly Unique" is equally ambiguous. As far as I know, there is only one lawyer with my particular "highly unique soft" and he graduated from law school 15 years ago, so its certainly a unique soft. But there is no telling whether schools will see that particular "Highly unique" soft as any better than your typical above average softs. I'll reveal what it is at the end of the cycle, and we can judge one way or another based on results lol.mrgstephe wrote:Exactly my point: a box where everyone says "i'm a special snowflake and above average" doesn't really give insight at all. Also, I hopped on my friend's Facebook to stalk the Facebook group for a second. Either the group is a non-representative sample, or 50% of UVA Law runs marathons on the reg.

A marathon is one of those things where I just don't get why you'd put yourself through that. You could not run for 3 or 4 hours and eat cupcakes instead. Much more satisfying.
